I usually run low on one or two things between paydays.  And the "good" snacks of course always disappear soonest.

But I'm out of flour AND bread, and cheeze, and milk  Staples in our house.

I ordered milk on pay day, it usually takes a week to come--we drink milk moos, and I typically ordered a bag once or twice a year.  And almost twk weeks later still no sign of it.

    Pay day isn't until Monday.

I made four loaves of bread with the last of the flour tonight--rather flat loaves since I ran out of flour before the bread was the right consistency.

So that takes care of staples for tomorrow.

But Friday-Sunday is going to be creative.  *snicker*

Rob and I committed to *not* running to the mom and pop store for stuff.  And we've done really really well at it.  But I'm thinking flour is going to have to be purchased tomorrow.

We are down to less then a dozen eggs, so we can't eat eggs for breakfast for the next four days, and we don't do cereal for breaky, Rob cooks.  And his options for breakfast without flour milk and low eggs are LIMITED.

I sure would like to know how I planned so poorly to run out of bread and flour on the same pay check.  *scratches head*

    Monday can't come soon enough!

  • Okay, now  I could have helped out if you still had a little flour since I do this regularly (run out that is) We haven't got caught up since our freezer got unplugged.  I have several breakfast pancake recipes that take almost no flour and only a few eggs, and they feed lots of people.  BUT almost no flour still needs flour.. he he!   Like my dutch baby pancake.  Six eggs and you can feed your whole family, and the best part is I realized that if you have apples and cinamon you get an apple pancake just like the ones at Oak Table.  mmmm. yUmmy!  They also taste good plain.  Would you still like the recipe in case you do get flour??

  • @KarlaandSuperMedic - I broke down and bought flour, but we are still low on eggs.    But I'll still take the recipe, I'm always open to new ones...Rob is too especially for breakfast as food just gets boring.

  • I just stopped and realized that if we were suddenly housebound for the next month, most likely eggs and milk would be the only things that we'd miss by the end of the month.  I try to buy all my groceries for the month ahead.  And my kids idea of breakfast is a piece of toast (my homemade bread) and sometimes a bowl of storebought cereal.  They definately take after their mother.  I only eat toast for breakfast.

  • @Bluetoban - I typically have enough flour for 3 weeks, eggs as well.  I figure we could live without outside shopping for a month--most of the time.  But apparently my plan failed this pay check.
