  • the rug

So here's my rug in process on the new partly finished floor.  We ran out of grout and have to go get some Friday, each tile is 12x12 inches to give you a idea as to how big the rug currently is.

I want it bigger by at least a foot in each direction.

Its slower going now as each round take about 40 minutes.  Its also EATING fabric.  I'm going to do a freecycle add and see if I can't get some freebees of material.

  • Like the floor and like the rug.  Good job with both!

  • When do you find time to crochet rugs when you have 6 active children????  I like the blue tones in it.  Like your new floor tiles too.

  • I really like the tiles and the rug.  Pretty!

  • The rug is looking good and I can see why it is eating so much fabri. it will be worth it when its finished thou.

The new floor is looking great.

  • Looks great!!  The tile looks nice also.  i am sue you will be happy to get it all completed.

  •  Seal the floor or it won't stay clean.    If you remember our entryway was grouted with that same color and it very quickly turned to an ugly, dirty, gray gross color.  It was awful, even the big dirt stuck to it.  If you bought a grout that says it is pre-sealed... it lied!!! We used that a couple of times.  apperently you have to seal it really well or you can never clean it off.  I'm speaking from experience here!!  You won't like it if you don't seal it!!  Your tile will lookd great but the mud and grime will stick to the grout lines and I dont' see you having time (especially since its a mudroom) to be cleaning it out with a tooth brush.  Tony and I learned a big lesson about that as we have done many more tile projects in selah as well as Joyce.  every one of those lovely grout lines that look so good now you will hate and did you know tile doesn't come up well at all?  We are going to be doing the tile again here because it is the cheapest and it does look so good but sealing it and making the grout lines flush are two tricks we have learned after all the tile projects we have done.  And that list is pretty long by the way.  I'm sitting here thinking about it... three bathrooms, two shower surrounds, laundry room, entryway, ... and the list goes on, and on... and we learn new tricks every time.  I like tile.  REally I do!  But I don't like cleaning it if the grout hasn't been sealed.  My kitchen counter we didn't seal and it was horrible!!

I really, love your rug by the way!!  Maybe you can take back that 12 yards of marroon fabric and make it into a rug?  Do you have any rooms with maroon?  You bought it for something and I keep trying to use it but its not my style.

  • @KarlaandSuperMedic - I would take back the fabric LOL  I'm thoroughly loving making them, and already have a place to sale them if I want.  Every penny helps you know.  You could bring it when you come up, and any others that you can't stand.  *snicker*  I put a freecycle ad out last night, theres no point in buying if someone wants to give me their left-overs after all.

  • @KarlaandSuperMedic - growls I hit submit before I meant to.  We have full intentions of sealing it, but first we have to get more grout.  I'm headed to Forks today to see if I can by-pass a trip to Sequim.  I'd really really like to avoid that.  Also its sunny, so on the way home we will stop and swim at Lake Pleasant a very nice shallow lake quite similar to Lake Leland, except much much better kept up.  We "just" discovered it this summer.  It even has a awesome kids play park, something we obviously don't have in Clallam Bay.

  • I love that rug!  Are you keeping everything in colors of blue?  I have some old Winnie the Pooh sheets if you need them. LOL!
