  • Three years ago

Three years ago.  I was up every night many times a night with Rainee Grace.  I checked her oxygen, readadjusted her pulse ox, and got up the next day and homeschooled Zeria, then Sam and Kaylin.

I can't imagine how I survived since I feel like the walking dead.

Last night I was only woke twice.

Of course we dealt with sicko's ALL day yesterday.

But its just amazing what the body adjusts to, and then gives up.

And I'm sooooooooo greatful the foreamentioned lifestyle is behind us!!!!

Rainee is still very punky.  So the tv is babysitting her.  Its what she wanted, and is fine.  She hasn't moved off the chair all day.

Jeremiah is back to normal...with the exception that if his way is crossed he just sobs.  Not in a I'm mad way...in a I'm sick enough to make you miserable, but not sick enough to lay down.    I hate that day of sick.

I called last night and cancelled baton.  I figured if Rainee's temperature was 102 at 6 pm she had no business being drug into town, and attempting to practice today.

Its a good thing cause basketball pulled a whammy in my nicely organized life.  *sigh*  The games start tonight.  The last two years they were at 6 pm, which I knew would just fit into baton.  The only reason I allowed them to do basketball.

But know some wise soul decided they should start at 5:30.  There is absolutely ZERO way I can get Samuel there on time.

And its not fair to his squad of four in baton for him to not be there.  *sigh*

So I can juggle for the next four weeks huh?  This week is fine due to Rainee's illness.  Next week I'm just going to tell his basketball coach no Samuel for the game.  I have to stick to baton its our original commitment.  And the week after that?  Its long enough away I'll come up with something.  I can conceiveably leave Jamari and Kaylin with friends who could get them to the game.  (The three are on the same team.)  They have no baton commitments Tuesday.  But Samuel is the "star" player.  I could conceivably leave baton 15 minutes early which would get him to basketball 15 minutes late.  *sigh*  Its not a great plan.  Maybe a miracle will occur between now and then?

The other irony is I had finally screwed up the courage and dug out all the material to begin the learning to read program for Jamari and Rainee.  And she's sick.  *snicker*

Oh well, its all sitting here for when she's better again.  They both should be reading by June, and its all good.

  • sick

Its been a strange 18 hours.

Zeria has been sick with a cold/asthma.  She did a high fever Thursday and now just has this nasty asthma cough.  I woke up yesterday not feeling great, and decided to stay home.  I made Zeria stay home because of her cough.

In the afternoon it was sunny, so Sam had a friend over.  Zeria was feeling good, so she went outside.  They were taking turns riding the quad.  Zeria and Kaylin at some point were riding the quad, and Sam and his friend decided to chase them.  This was all going "ok" until they added big sticks to the mix.   Kaylin tapped Zeria on the shoulder to show her that Sam had sticks.   Zeria looked backwards while still driving the quad.  The quad has a governor that doesn't allow it to go faster then 10 mph.  I'm very greatful for this.  Anyhow while she was looking backwards Sam threw the stick, and it got stuck in the wheels.  And somehow they managed to run-over,  hit Jeremiah who was on his bike.

Nobody actually saw the impact.  Rob saw it about 2 seconds too late.  And the girls were looking backwards.  It needless to say scared the crap out of us.  We checked him over, but good.  No blood, no obvious bruises or swelling, lots of mud.  We put him in the tub with Jamari.   Jamari wore shorts so mommy could help clean up Jeremiah.    They played.  Jeremiah wasn't crying, or whimpering.  He was quite happy and goofy.  Shortly after it was dinner time.   Jeremiah "seemed" to be okay.  He would bear weight on both legs, but after about 8 steps would start whimpering, and not want to walk further.

Rob and I's eyebrows were raised, and we were quite frankly absolutely freaked out.  My husband is a NURSE.   So we aren't totally stupid.  There were no signs of swelling and he could bare weight.  So we decided to watch it.  About 5 pm Jeremiah fell asleep nursing.  Since we'd given him tylenol we weren't shocked, and he's developed a BAD habit of going to sleep then anyhow.

He woke up at 7 pm kinda cranky, but that too is VERY normal.  I reached for him to comfort him and he was burning up.  I tried to find the thermometer, but I put it in a "safe" place after using it on Zeria earlier in the week.     It was too soon to give him more tylenol, and we just assumed he was coming down with Zeria's cold.

We tried moving him to his bed once about 8:30, but it didn't go over well, so finally we moved his toddler mattress into our room.  At 9:30 he woke up screaming.  He said his head hurt.  I grabbed a chewable tylenol to give to him.  He wouldn't take it.  I tried to insist.  And he threw up.

And then the fun began.  He threw up about once every hour all night long.  He's not dehydrated as he's been insisting on water before and after each puke.  So its just normal flu crap. I mighta been concerned that it was a concussion or something--except there are NO bumps on his head.  But there's another except.

At one pm there was a knock on our door.  At this point Rob and I were the walking dead.  Something about cleaning up and comforting puking child for the past 5 hours ya know.    It was Zeria.  "Rainee's screaming, and says she's gonna throw up."  Rob went and got her.

She did.  About five minutes after Jeremiah did again.   It went that way the rest of the night.  Its been so much fun.

It was a full time gig for both Rob and I.  Jeremiah is not a good sick.

Rainee has maybe thrown up one other time in her life, so it absolutely terrified her each time she did.  Rainee does asthma not tummy bugs.  LOL  Also with Rainee's airway defects I'm sure its much scarier to get the stuff out of her airway, and junk.   Remember she has a trachea that has 80% cartiledge and 20% soft tissue.  So she doesn't have the body parts to clean stuff out well.

All in all it was a fun night.  Rainee has eaten a smidge of toast this morning.

Jeremiah nursed about 7:30 pm and has slept for the last 2 and a half hours which means he also has moilky in his system.  So things are looking a tich better except for the whole exhausted beyond belief.

Pets my Diet Dew.   Do they have it in IV form?

  • One Mile Beach

    100_2003

We found a new beach today.  Yeah we've lived here two years, and we still haven't hit all the beaches.  The shameful thing is this one is all of two miles from our house.    We learned of it a long time ago, and then just kinda forgot.  Today I was in the mood for something new, and was thinking of a different beach we haven't went to when I remembered this one.

Its a bit of a hike.  About one mile one way.  But only TWO miles from our house.  And such a deliciously private beach.  The hike is gorgeous too.  Its along the cliff on a old railroad grade.  You get to peek at the ocean all the way along.  We have a new favorite.

But next time we bring water.  And make sure ALL of the kids have coats.  And umm a snack.  *snicker*

The top picture is looking to the east.

    100_2004

This is looking to the west.  So lovely.

    100_2005

    My munchkins.

    100_2006

We chose to go to the east cause we could see these rocks in the distance.  I had read online there were caves.  We didn't find "big" ones, but lots of fun places to play.  I think if we'd gone further we would have found more, but the tide was a teensy bit high, and we didn't have water.  Major boo-boo there.

    100_2013

I loved the different textures of rocks in this picture.

    100_2014

And Rainee's incredibly goofy garb!  We'll call it Avant Garde and leave it at that.

    100_2015

Samuel was in an amazingly good mood, and even offered to pose for pictures--he hasn't voluntarily posed for a picture in a LONG time.  So here he is in one of the "caves"

    100_2017

Jeremiah was going to crawl through this one, but then told me it was too big for him.

Since he was ducking when I said this I asked him if he meant too small.  And he said yeah.  Big small yah know what the dif?

We finally stopped exploring and sat on driftwood.  And that's when we realized we were cold.  And three kids came to me asking for water.  Kaylin gets very very distraught and unable to function when she's thirsty.  And we had a bit of a climb and a mile walk back to the van.  She was NOT happy.

Kaylin rarely melts down.  She just is soooooo even killed.  Except when she's thirsty.   Rainee feel and hurt her knee.  Twice in five minutes.  So she was melting down cause her hands were cold, and she had a bloody knee, and she was thirsty.

Mommy got Rainee comforted.  But Kaylin...She was thirsty.  Darn it.  LOL

We decided to head back up.  Rob carried Jeremiah to the top of the hill, and then came back for Kaylin.  She by this time had added asthma to the I'm thirsty sadness.    We gave her and Zeria albuterol.  It was a rather nasty little hill.  Straight up for about 700 feet.     Karla a little steeper then the hill at the Dungeness Spit.   And quite a bit slippery this time of year.

I actually did quite well climbing the hill, and was extremely amazed at the fact.  Zeria trooped up it, but her asthma was really killing her, and Rob was thinking he'd end up hauling her up after Kaylin.  Zeria shook her head no, and managed it.

It really wasn't a "bad" hill.  But Kaylin was thirsty.  LOL

So we got to the top.  And we were all a bit cold, and THIRSTY.

Rob and I were wondering how we were going to managed the next 3/4's of a mile when he volunteered to jog to the car and get our water.

    100_2018

The kids decided to take a break on a log while he did that.  Can you see how pathetic Kaylin looks???  Samuel was kinda mocking her in his pose.

After a few minutes I coaxed them into hiking again.  Samuel and Jamari and Jeremiah were still going strong.  Rainee's hands were cold, but she was quite chipper.  Zeria was a bit tired--but she was sick the last two days (fever) so I wasn't suprised.  And Kaylin.

    Well she was THIRSTY.

    snigger.

We walked about 1/4 of a mile slowly...dragging our feet.  Well except Sam and Jamari who were skipping.  LOL   And then I looked ahead on the trail and saw Rob way ahead coming back with water.  "Look daddy's here."  I said pointing him out.

Tired?  Exhausted?  Suddenly Kaylin and Rainee and Jeremiah are RUNNING towards Rob.  *snicker*  Zeria was still tired she stayed with me.  We had put a gallon jug of water in the van.  By the time everyone had drank their was a 1/4 gallon left.

Zeria drank too much and chilled herself.  She started shivering, and shaking.  We had a extra sweatshirt (long story) and my coat and we piled it on her, and coaxed her to get to the car.

Kaylin?  She was now the party girl.  Happy, Skipping, Throwing Rocks.  Everybody else was energized and ready to go.  And the last 1/2 mile or whatever it was of the hike was quite pleasant.   Rob and I kept asking her who she was and what she did with Kaylin.

All in all a fun adventure.  But we MUST bring water.  Because woe to parents who make their children suffer without it for a WHOLE hour.  (sarcasm oozes)

    100_2026

One of the many peak-a-boo views on the trail taken just before we got back to the car.

We are ALL looking forward to going back.  With a snack, and water so we can explore longer.  Oh and a coat for the three nit-wits who were told over and over to bring them, and somehow got to the beach without.

  • 100_2000

    Good morning

I took these pictures yesterday on my drive home from town and had to share.

    100_2001

Its another one of those days I'm soooooo greatful for my 12x optical zoom.  Cause this fella was way out in the middle of a clear-cut.  But I actually thought you got a pretty good view of him.

He let me take about 6 pictures and then while I was looking at my screen to see how I did...he flew off.  I guess he was tired of being my model.

Its not raining today, though not as nice as it was the last too days--kinda overcast and gloomy.   I slept in a LOT.  I guess I needed it.  And now we're talking about a beach.  We shall see if it happens or not.

I spent too many hours last night looking at mermaid costumes I have mermaid eyes now I swear.  Kaylin and her friend are doing their routine to Under the Sea.  My sister has graciously agreed to make the costume, and has a pattern, but I was trying to get colors, etc.  The trick is making this thing baton friendly.   So we're going with leggings with fins like I saw at Princesses on Ice.  Who knew that would come in handy.  LOL  So I spent several hours looking at leggings hoping to find something in the right colors already made.  No go yet.    But hey its early, and it was something to do.

Other then that I watched 4 episodes of Numb3rs online, and was just a major bumb.

  • Bubble Baths

    arlonjanis20024447480116

    Rob found this; this morning.

We are highly amused because we believe someone's been sitting in our master bathroom observing.

Is that TMI?  It WAS in a comic.

    Anyhow it made us giggle.

We are surviving.  I had to run something into town this morning due to a lack of communication on my dad's part.  It was definitely above and beyond in my opinion, but he REALLY needed it, so I did.  And left the kids and my husband at home.   And went shopping in Goodwill WITHOUT my family.  Darn that hurt my feelings.

I puttered around and thoroughly enjoyed myself.  I managed to score about 15 episodes of the original Star Trek in video form.  I'm sure somebody upgraded to dvd's.  We happen to prefer video form as my kids don't trash them nearly as easily.  So tonight we're introducing the kids to a legend, a mystery, a fantastic journey into the unexplained phenomena.

Okay I fully expect them to look at us with wide eyes and say something like "Why is this cool."

Its okay we're still going to watch it.

Actually so far each of the classics they've watched with me they've liked.  But I chosen age appropriate as much as possible.  We've done Roy Rogers, Shirley Temples, certain John Waynes; Hatari, McClintock, Circus World.  The ones that were MY favorites as a kid.     We haven't done a lot of Cary Grant cause I remember falling in love with him about 13.  The humor would go over there heads, and ruin my entertainment all in one fell swoop.    So those are coming.

And we actually have a list of Classic's that will be required for my kids school education.  Yeah school.

Back to Bataan, Sergeant York, Never so Few, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Mr. Holland's Opus, Tuskegee Airman, Man of Honor and several others that aren't coming to me at the moment.  While they aren't absolutely accurate historically they get you feeling what the situations and certain times in history were like.  And for me they are what triggered my LOVE and FASCINATION with history.  They stirred my mind and made me research the real story.   But I think we'll wait a bit for those too.   Nothing wrong with them, just think my kids are still a wee young.

  • I am your brother

Do you need a laugh as badly as I did tonight. This is worth its weight in GOLD.Please watch it until he starts singing.Just hysterical.

  • Crafting Queen

When Rainee realized that she was too young for basketball she was a bit sad.  Especially as her very dear friend Rosey is old enough for it this year.  So I told her it was quite possible that the coach would let her practice with the team if she wanted.  (he's a very sweet man)  Or she could stay home and we could craft or make cookies during the practice time.

Last week was the beginning practice and so we stayed, but tonight was the first at home with mom.

She informed me just as we were leaving that she wanted to.

    A. Make cookies

    B.  Scrapbook

    C Play the Video Game

    D.  Make Play Dough.

All in 2 hours not counting that we had to go pick up the three middle kids and drop off Zeria in the middle of that.

I tried to discuss that time-wise she had too lofty of goals.  She melted down. I rolled my eyes and droppecd it.

Her melt downs are very mild.  Just a bit of sad face and a teensy amount of tears.  "Well, we'll see."  I observed and scooted her into the car.

We didn't make cookies, and we didn't scrapbook.  But we did make play dough (as was my plan) and she played the video game for 45 minutes without any one bugging her.

She never pointed out we didn't get to do the other things--Jeremiah did however.  He was quite miffed that there was no cookie baking.

What am I super mom?  LOL

Oh well, I guess now that I know how important cookie making is to BOTH of them we shall attempt that next Monday.  Or con daddy into helping them Wednesday.  *shrugs*

    Silly kids.

I spent most of this day with a nasty sinus headache.  Is it a Monday thing?  It was so bad I laid down on the bed for a "few" minutes at 9 am.  At 11 am Rob came in and asked me if he needed to call in sick.  I'm not sure where those two hours went...

But I do know that my house looks like I had a sinus headache.  *cringes*

The kitchen and the laundry room are not pretty places.  My kids took full advantage of the fact that mommy was tuning them out and not checking in on them.

Their gonna regret it tomorrow when my headache is gone.  LOL  At least I hope its gone tomorrow...

  • 100_1974

I redid Zeria's corn rows Thursday night and thought I'd share the result.  I was very happy with how they turned out.  I also learned a lesson.  I will get up and move around about half way through, or my back will hurt like the dickens for two days.  LOL

    I spent yesterday recovering.  LOL

    100_1977

I did box braids in the very back as its harder to corn-row back there.   Its funny cause her hair doesn't look long, but obviously it is as evidenced by the braids.  Anyhow we both like it.  And it should be good for several weeks.

Kaylin had me re-do hers, but I don't have pictures.  I only did the top of her head, and we left the back of hers down and curly.  It looks VERY cute that way.   I shall have to take pictures when its day light.

My computer has become a stinker about uploading pictures, and I have to reboot in order to get them on.  Kodak "upgraded" there software and now it works like crap.  I've seriously considered deleting there new software and using my old stuff.

Yesterday we'd heard there was going to be a low-tide, so we took my dad out to our closest beach.  Imagine my suprise when I learned he'd never been there.  The low-tide info was wrong, but we still had fun scrambling on the rocks, and my dad wants to go back.

    100_1982

It was sprinkling the whole time we were at the beach so that's why the pictures look blurry.  It was blurry outside.  ROFL

For the first five months of my dads weekend visits we just sat around visiting.  Its gotten a bit stale.  And is kinda silly.  He loves to hike/explore, so we're just gonna start dragging him along with us.  Regardless of what he did in the past he is a incredible wealth of information that my kids can learn from, so we may as well make use of that info.  And make some memories for all of us.

    100_1978

Kaylin found a way to stay out of the drizzle.  LOL  She has been so happy since we started baton.  Its fascinating what its done for her self-esteem.  Usually she gets SAD (season affective disorder)  but I haven't seen a single sign of it this year yet.  Amazing.

    100_1983

The view from the beach...a view I end up snagging a picture of each time I'm there.  LOL  Its the old light house keepers house.  The light house came down years ago, but the keepers house is gorgeous.

And two birds that were bobbing in the surf.  I was actually impressed how much detail the camera picked up considering how blurry of a day it was.

    100_1985

Oh and as an added bonus.  This guy got rather lost Thursday afternoon.  We have a big puddle outside our front yard.  And I think he thought it was a marsh not a puddle.  The kids saw him land, and hollered for me to come see.  I grabbed my picture opened the window snagged this and we scared him off.  LOL  Too bad I wouldn't have minded if he stayed.

    100_1971

  • Food is boring

I'm getting ready to write my grocery list, which means I redo my menu and tweak it so it can have at least a couple intresting things on it.  And right now food is boring.

So help me out, what do you make for your family that most will eat.  Something good?  Something quick?  Doesn't have to be both.  I'm up to experimenting.

    Rescue me!

  • Chapter One?

So here's what I'm working on in my spare minutes.  Its rough still as I keep poking things around.  So pardon the typos, and if you see any really obvious ones feel free to point both grammer and spelling out.  Tell me what you think.

Azizi the small midnight fae was jumping from one rose bush leaf to another in a random order.  Sometimes when she was bored she landed on her hands and bounced on her hands and landed on her feet on the next one.  She loved to jump, to flutter, to flit here and there.  She loved to laugh and  loved to giggle.  This was the good side of her.  The other side of her was the one that got quickly angry, threw things, and cried when people didn’t pay attention to her.  She was in otherwords just like any one else.  She had her good points and her bad points.

Today she was carefree and enjoying doing nothing.  “Watch this,”  She called to her brother Seth.  She then proceeded to bounce up in the air do a summersault and attempt to land on the next rose leaf.   It would have been a fabulous trick, except she missed the leaf and began tumbling to the ground.  “AAAAA!”  She shrieked while her brother laughed at her mistake.   If she had been a human it would have been disasterous, but then if she’d been human she would have been too big to jump on rose bush leaves.  It took her a couple seconds to remember she had wings.  She quickly started fluttering, and fought her battle against gravity.  After a moment she was right side up, and in no danger.  She was however mad.

“That’s not nice,”  She said scowling at Seth and giving her best ugly face.  And then she stomped off to go play somewhere anywhere that he wasn’t.  It would have worked well except Seth fluttered right beside her poking her wherever he could reach.  “Knock it off!”  She commanded with her best big sister voice.  “If you don’t I will not be cooking dinner for you tonight, you’ll have to go beg flies from the frogs.”

“I happen to like chocolate flies.”  Seth observed while sticking his tongue out at her.  “So that threat won’t work with me.”

Azizi rolled her eyes at her brother and shook her rear at him.  “Fine, then you can just go survive on them for all I care.”               The fight would have gone on indefinitely except it was then they noticed a portal opening.  A portal was the way that all the beings on Garden travelled off their world onto other worlds.  Their planet was special in that it only had one, most had many.   “Looks like we’re going to have visitors.”  Azizi said getting distracted.  “Let’s go meet them with Cat & Boyd.

It was Seth’s turn to roll his eyes now, he didn’t like meeting visitors.  All those how-do-you-do’s and where-do-you-come froms, were boring.  Exceptionally boring.   “You go, I’ll meet you later.”  He said fluttering off to see if he could find someone to play a game of thorn-fights.   Thorns were what midnight fae used instead of swords, and Seth was particularly good at fighting with them.  He’d trained for several hundred years after all.

Azizi flew up and landed on Cat’s otherwise known as Catherine’s shoulder.  Cat was the pixie who had found the Midnight fae and offered them a place to live.  It was a decision many pixies regretted.  They felt the midnight fae were bordering on malicious, and were quite tired of being pelted by mud, and other things as a practical jokes.

“Hello,”  She said while pushing one of Cat’s blonde curls out of her viewing spot.  “It looks like we’re about to get company.”  Catherine turned her head to acknowledge Azizi.  “Yes, it does doesn’t it, I wonder who it is?  It could be the Gardener I haven’t seen him in awhile, but then he doesn’t usually use the portal.”

Boyd the male pixie who happened to be Catherine’s best friend joined the conversation at this moment and said with laughter..  “I bet if we wait two seconds our curiousity will be satisfied.  “Yes, smart alec.”  Cat said  winking at him.

At that moment a beautiful lady stepped through the portal.  At least that was the first impression.  She had long flowing curly white hair, and was clothed in a long white dress.   She seemed to glide as she moved and you couldn’t see her feet.  When you took a second look however her face was filled with darkness and hatred.  The hair stood up on the back of Azizi’s neck.  “She’s scarey.”  She whispered only loud enough for Catherine to hear.

Catherine stepped towards the lady.  “Welcome to Garden.”  She said attempting to begin the normal speech she gave.  The lady did not look at her, but seemed to look past her and continued to glide across the grassy meadow.  “Well that went well.”  Boyd quipped.   “We do want you to know that this world has some rules in order to be here.”  He tried to continue the speech.

Azizi got held her finger out to start the list of rules that was normally given.  “Don’t be mean to the animals, Don’t be mean to the plants, Don’t be mean to…”  She’d heard them often enough she had them thoroughly memorized.  It didn’t mean she always obeyed them however.

The lady continued to glide across the meadow and into the woods.  “Stop!”  Boyd said in a voice of authority.  “We need to tell you some things for your protection.”    He began running after her trying to get in front of her.  She moved quickly, much quicker then Boyd could.   And in minutes she was lost in the woods, and Boyd gave up the chase.

“We need to go tell Da we might have a problem.  We’ve never had somebody here who didn’t know the rules, there are so many ways she could get hurt, or hurt someone.”  Catherine said in a rush.  “Wait here, Boyd to guard the portal I will go speak to him.”

Azizi continued to sit on Catherine’s shoulder.  She wanted in on whatever action was about to happen, and she may as well get a free ride to wherever that was.   Catherine made a loud whistling sound and Staery the pristine white pegasus that had been grazing over in a far corner of the meadow came trotting over.  “Staery, I need you to take me to T’aigean please.”  Catherine said.  “As quickly as possible, we have an emergency.”  Staery bowed her head in understanding, and knelt down so Catherine could get on quicker.  Cat jumped on careful not to bump Staery’s wings, or knock Azizi off.  “We’ll bring help as quickly as possible.  I wish I knew where the Gardener was we could use him right now.”

The ride was quick, over the mountain and the woods and then to the small village of T’aigean.  From the height of the pegasus Azizi could see the ocean with several ships at port.  She could see the mermaids splashing in the waves, and people wending their wares at the little market.  The rose houses were colorful each pixie having a color that represented their family.   The village was laid out as circular as possible so that all felt included, and looked like something out of a picture.   In the very center of the village Azizi could see the sacred rose circle.  This was where the pixies were laid when they died.   It was also where the midnight fae had been allowed to live.  They didn’t like houses, they preferred to sleep in a rose.  The rain, and weather didn’t bother them, they had natural protection from the elements, and the magic that came from the rose circle was powerful and intriguing to the midnight fae.  It was also another bone of contention with the pixies who felt like it was messing with something sacred.  So far the issue hadn’t been resolved.

“Hold on.”  Catherine said softly to Azizi as Staery came in to land next to Gden’s house.  “The landing’s always a bit sudden.”  Azizi gripped the pink shoulder of Catherine’s dress waiting for the thud.  It was a bit abrupt, but she managed, and soon Catherine fluttered off the pegasus bowing a thanks to Staery.  “Thank you for the quick ride, its always appreciated.  I’ll get you some sugar as soon as I talk to Da.”   Azizi knew that normally Catherine would treat Staery immediately, so it was obvious how concerned Cat was that she skipped this step.  The blonde pixie fluttered quickly to the door and began yelling as she got closer.  “We have a problem.”

Callie came to the door.  Callie was Gden’ wife and Catherine’s mom.  You could tell that Catherine and Callie were related with their streaming long blonde hair, matching height and wings, but Callie had a thousand years of ellegance and grace Catherine had not yet attained.  “Mom, we had a bit of a problem at Moinear, a strange and evil looking woman stepped out of the portal and promptly disappeared, I need to speak to my brother please.”

Gden was the chief caretaker of Garden.   He was also Cat's father.  The male pixie  had been ruler for a long long time, and was growing a bit tired of the job, and asked his son  if he would be willing to take the responsibility, so far the answer was a look of terror in his oldest sons face, and Gden hadn’t forced the issue.    Gden had as a result instead continued doing the job he had done for such a long time.

Callie nodded her head and gestured for Cat to come in.  Azizi joined them since she was still sitting on Cat’s shoulder.  She wasn’t about to miss this.

The brown haired pixie Gden soon stepped out from one of the backrooms.  He had one grand-child on each leg and was trying to walk while they sat on his foot.  Each step he took jingled and jangled from all the tools Gden had in his pants pockets.  Gden may have been the Chief Caretaker, but that also meant the chief fixer of all things broken, wounded, or in need of mending.  As a result he always had many tools on him to save steps.  “I’m coming, whats up?”  He asked not having seen Catherine’s face and realizing how concerned she was about what had just happened.

Cat giggled at the boys on Gden’s feet temporarily sidetracking herself from her original concern and then shook her head.  “I was as you know on portal duty, we had someone enter the portal.”  Azizi took this pause to interupt.  “Yeah the wicked witch of the west.”  Cat reached up and put a finger on Azizi’s mouth, and continued as if she hadn’t been interupted.   “We tried to introduce ourselves, but she acted as if she couldn’t see or hear us.  She just glided across the meadow and into the forest.  Boyd ran after her, but she disappeared.”

Gden ran his hands through his hair making it stand up on end, and then looked down at the boys.  “Play times over, please go find your mother and play, I have to work now.”  The boys nodded their head and jumped off heading to another part of the house.  Gden would wonder about their quick obedience later.   For now he was just greatful for it.   He then pulled a whistle out of his pocket, and stepped past Cat out into the yard of his house.

The whistle was small and silver.  Azizi loved it when Gden played it at dances.  It was magic, she smiled at the thought of it, and then put her hands to her ears when Gden made a sound come out of it that was anything but pleasant.  It was the come hither sound that all pixies knew meant danger come quickly.   In minutes pixies of every size and age came scurrying over.  “What’s going on?”  They asked all at once.  The noise was chaotic, and less then organized.  “We have a stranger on our planet, one who may or may not have evil intent, she disappeared into the woods by Moinear we must all look for her and attempt to find her.   If you find her please blow your whistle, or send to me, and we will come, and try to help her.”   The villagers nodded their heads and began to organize the search for the mysterious white lady.
