I redid Zeria's corn rows Thursday night and thought I'd share the result.  I was very happy with how they turned out.  I also learned a lesson.  I will get up and move around about half way through, or my back will hurt like the dickens for two days.  LOL

    I spent yesterday recovering.  LOL

I did box braids in the very back as its harder to corn-row back there.   Its funny cause her hair doesn't look long, but obviously it is as evidenced by the braids.  Anyhow we both like it.  And it should be good for several weeks.

Kaylin had me re-do hers, but I don't have pictures.  I only did the top of her head, and we left the back of hers down and curly.  It looks VERY cute that way.   I shall have to take pictures when its day light.

My computer has become a stinker about uploading pictures, and I have to reboot in order to get them on.  Kodak "upgraded" there software and now it works like crap.  I've seriously considered deleting there new software and using my old stuff.

Yesterday we'd heard there was going to be a low-tide, so we took my dad out to our closest beach.  Imagine my suprise when I learned he'd never been there.  The low-tide info was wrong, but we still had fun scrambling on the rocks, and my dad wants to go back.

It was sprinkling the whole time we were at the beach so that's why the pictures look blurry.  It was blurry outside.  ROFL

For the first five months of my dads weekend visits we just sat around visiting.  Its gotten a bit stale.  And is kinda silly.  He loves to hike/explore, so we're just gonna start dragging him along with us.  Regardless of what he did in the past he is a incredible wealth of information that my kids can learn from, so we may as well make use of that info.  And make some memories for all of us.

Kaylin found a way to stay out of the drizzle.  LOL  She has been so happy since we started baton.  Its fascinating what its done for her self-esteem.  Usually she gets SAD (season affective disorder)  but I haven't seen a single sign of it this year yet.  Amazing.

The view from the beach...a view I end up snagging a picture of each time I'm there.  LOL  Its the old light house keepers house.  The light house came down years ago, but the keepers house is gorgeous.

And two birds that were bobbing in the surf.  I was actually impressed how much detail the camera picked up considering how blurry of a day it was.

Oh and as an added bonus.  This guy got rather lost Thursday afternoon.  We have a big puddle outside our front yard.  And I think he thought it was a marsh not a puddle.  The kids saw him land, and hollered for me to come see.  I grabbed my picture opened the window snagged this and we scared him off.  LOL  Too bad I wouldn't have minded if he stayed.

  • Neat pictures.  Love the way you've done Zeria''s hair.  And, my dear, it's special that you took the time to learn to do that.  It's important also that she learn shall we say 'the care and feeding' of her hair.  I have two older friends, Lillian and Minnie, who would get so upset because it was hard to find a beautician who knew how to fix their hair their way and not necessarily the way we do ours.  Of course, if you saw me right now, you would think I was an 'old hippy' with very long kinky hair.  *snickers*  I washed it and then blow dried and wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  It will be back to just below the shoulers soon.instead of mid back.  *bleh*

You might want to mark that last picture to enter in the fair this year.  It's a good one.  *g*

  • It is good that you are keeping some of the kids "other" culture too.  She has such a sweet little face.  It will be good for you to continue your family time with your dad going along as long as you are vigilant.

I am part Klamath Indian and was so interested in learning more about them when we took our last trip to the NW.  There is a museum in Bend that was helpful more than anywhere else we went.  Klamath Falls didn't have much at all that was of help to me in learning more of the Klamath culture and nothing about them seems to be in any books etc. that I research.  My father was part Klamath and met mother, married and died in KY during WWII.

  • love the corn rows!  i really wish i could braid.  i mean, i can, but i really suck at it.  you did a great job!  the heron is very beautiful too.  i can't wait til spring to start enjoying our lakes and wildlife.

  • With her hair being curly, does it stay as long?  Sometimes that happens when it is softer curls.  At least that is what I have seen and experienced.  My hair is not curly anymore.  My granddaughter's is curly and my mother's was curly too.  Very curly. Sometimes if it isn't handled just right, it can be a real struggle to work with.  Hers does look good like you did it.

Great beach pictures.  I am glad you took your Dad out there.

  • The braids look great! Zeria has gorgeous hair! I feel like I'm kind maybe sort of getting a bit of the hang of Juli's hair, meaning I can do very poor box braids and twists! Shea butter and coconut oil have saved my life! I still stink at cornrows, but that's what our neighbor is for!

You certainly live in a beautiful part of the country!

  • Love the corn rows.. how long does that take to do??  I was very glad to hear how Kaylin is doing and as usual I love your pics.

  • Her hair looks wonderful!
