  • Salmon help?

Okay I was just given a 8 pound salmon.  I have NO idea how to cook.  Its been filleted.  I will have it for dinner tomorrow or Saturday night.  It was in the ocean this afternoon.  Tis very fresh.

Any ideas as to how to cook it?  Please?

  • Just bring it over to my house.  Ohhhh there are so many ways to cook it.  Look online though.  BBQing one way....I bake it...lightly seasoned.  Sometimes I will put it in foil with a sprinkling of salt and pepper and thinly sliced lemon, then seal and bake it that way.  Yummy.  I'm not one to add all kinds of things to it.  And, oh my, so fresh, it is going to taste some yummy!!!!

    Brat!!

  • Oh, you lucky person!!! Wrap it in foil with lemon, if you have any lemon/herb seasoning sprinkle that on it. My girls always add garlic but that is to whatever is your taste. To my way of thinking not too many flavors because the fish will be wonderful. Wrap it up and stick it on the grill. Look on line for some ideas on how long to cook. Shouldn't be too long I wouldn't think. The last one we did on the grill was whole and it didn't take long. I'm not sure about it 'cause the girls did it.

  • Yeah, what they said You can also bake at 350 25-30 minutes, with butter or garlic, or soy sauce if you're in a terikai mood ;) Enjoy!

  • I like to bake it with little seasoning other than salt pepper, a little parsley and sliced lemon. I made up a dill sauce recipe from combining various ingredients from other recipes that my kids go nuts over.

  • My favorite way to eat salmon is raw...you probably could have guessed that from my recent sushi post. But lemon is a really good cooking flavor for salmon, as everyone here has told you.

  • The last time we had salmon I grilled it. I brushed on a mixture of honey and lemon as well and it turned out flaky, tender and very yummy. Very simple too!
