Rob's Hobby
Rob has been muttering about not having a hobby. And Rob has been talking for months about building a trail on the other side of the river. But whenever he works on it he feels guilty "cause there's more important things to be done." So yesterday I told him he should consider his trail building a hobby and quit feeling guilty. LOL
Anyhow on Friday and Saturday he decided to make a bridge over the river. For those reading my blog for awhile you know this has been tried before. However this time we were actually successful. We are fully aware that it will wash away in two months when the river floods, although I have several schemes in my mind as to how to semi-prevent that.
Anyhow here's the beginning of the bridge. HE found these two pieces of log in our log jam, cut them out and drug them 1/4 of a mile to where he needed them. Man was he a puffing when he got done!
Our property is blessed with an over-abundance of railroad ties--don't ask, so that's what he used for the brace on the bottom. We were also blessed with a LOT of junk wood. We've actually burnt a lot of it just cause it was worthless, but Rob found 3 boards mostly alike to use as planks for the top.
And just so ya know. Rob is REALLY enjoying this hobby. Because he didn't go in the river with us all summer. (too cold he kept saying) So on an overcast day when the water was freezing I find him doing this--and he keeps telling me how warm the water is. And I KNOW better. LOL
And here we have the sturdy finished product.

Please note I didn't say beautiful.

Very cool bridge. I'm impressed.
When Rob said the water was warm, he probably just meant that it didn't feel cold. In other words his legs were numb and he couldn't feel anything. Therefore, the water "must" be warm. Heehee.
Nifty hobby for the man, and great results. Now, ahem, what of your 'hobby'? You are MIA. *eg*
I think it is beautiful for all the love and work that went into it and hey, it works and does what it is meant to do.
i love the bridge - looks like everyone is enjoying it!
That looks so cool! How ingenious to use the wood like that.
Tell him good job for me

ryc: It is great because I can get my "baby fix" without having any more myself. Actually I had the greatest fun with the two year old.
Alot cheaper than my hobbies, and probably a lot more note worthy! tony
ryc: I'd kinda thought of blood sugar issues, but those wouldn't cause actual pain in either muscles or joints/bones would it? Eventhough she has some complaints that would fit that, others are too broad to confine it to that. And she does have pre-existing auto immune things--more than one which is why I suspect there is more going on that either hasn't been figured out yet, or just not "full blown" enough to show up the tests. I've even heard recently that if it was RA and in it's earliest stages, it may not yet show up in the blood work. So...I guess I can't entirely rule that out yet either. ALL of them also have similar symptoms that would tie in with the dyslexia (poor short term memory, etc.) as well so I am guessing all of this is related in some way. Maybe not all medically related, but I've seen and heard of too many that have other things like this along with the LD issues. This is one child I *wish* came with an instruction manual.
Or a connect the dots book to find the answer? ROFL At least I have a dr who doesn't think I'm a psycho parent and seems to share my concerns when something seems weird. Of course he is the one we've seen when the alopecia showed up, multiple medicine allergies, etc. so...I think he's like me and isn't taking anything for granted.
That's wonderful.
That's the type of hobby my husband LOVES!
What a great looking bridge!! Looked like everyone was having fun! Way to encourage your husband!! Have an awesome week!
