cat woes
Kaylin's cat got in a fight, and has an infected tail, and is limping. We absolutely can NOT afford to take it to the vet at the present time, even though Rob who refuses to take any animal to the vet considered it.
We all love this cat. Its our favorite. It sneaks in a eight foot window to sleep with Kaylin. And when we go to the river it follows us. We are NOT supposed to have indoor cats, but I can't get upset about one that determined, and so its a spoiled baby.
So today we did minor surgery on the cat with me completely grosed out the whole time. Rob was quite enthralled. The cat is locked in a cage so it can be kept an eye on, and we're praying hard it will recover. I told myself I wasn't going to get attatched to an animal again, but this stupid cat forgot to listen, and I am. Darn it.
The good news is its very alert and still its playful self. While Rob was cleaning out the infected wound it laid perfectly still, and only meowed twice when we hit a sore spot. Kaylin came over and began to pet it, and it just lapped it up. Blacky has personality, and darn it I hope we fixed it.

I betcha the cat will be okay. Maybe the vet will give you info via phone for free if you need it. We use to doctor everything with Neosporin ointment and everything healed and lived.
I was thinking you might be able to catch a vet's thoughts for free. And... kittens are young -- they seem to bounce back so quickly. I hope the 'surgery' went well and the little munchkin lives a longe, feline life.
Did you use salt water? We use that when our cats get hurt and it helps a lot.
I bet the kitty will get better in no time! Good work!
ryc: I am glad you guys didn't get hurt today too!! That wreck is pretty bad. I was just out to Safeway and drove by it on my way home and they were still working on pulling up the motor home. It is literally RIGHT up the road! We can see the barricade on 8th ST right out the kitchen window!!
By the way how long has Rob worked at the prison? My Dad works out there too. Has for at least 15 years.
My oldest dd's cat got into a fight over a weekend and she took her to the vet. $350.00. Holy cow. A real life lesson, I guess. It took her whole pay check. We rarely take ourselves to the doctor let alone take animals to the vet. I hope your cat recovers quickly - sounds like it's receiving very good care at home.
