never heard of it and i homeschooled LOL i thought i knew all the programs!!!
I like it. It's more "academic" then I expected from what I heard about it, but it's also hands on and there's plenty of practice on each topic. But you don't have to do all the pages for each lesson either. I have a demo DVD I can send you that SHOWS how it works, parts of actual lessons from the earlier grades on up to algebra. It IS different, but in a good way that I am hoping with help Rachel remember the concepts better. The same guy does all the lessons on all the DVDs. The actual lessons are pretty short that you watch once a week or more if they need more help with the concept that week. I really like the fact that the DVD is true to what the actual lessons will look like so you know what you're getting into and what to expect. I'm not sure if I have any cons on it yet. LOL I guess that's good? But I also don't know what is something you wouldn't like.
In the workbooks there is about 2-3 pages of the new concept only. Then another couple pages of review but mostly the new concept, then the last page or so is a review of everything done so far. There is a test booklet with a test for the end of each lesson/week but it's just like the assignments so you could use it as just more practice depending on how you want to handle that. So far none have too many problems PER page which is a plus for us as Rachel can get bogged down by sheer numbers of problems, but there's enough pages to make sure they have enough practice IMO. We started with the 1st grade book and it's very easy at the beginning so she went through several pages the first several days. It's a good balance for us.
Oh, you will have to invest in the block set--it's specific to the program but usable for all the levels/kids so it'd be worth it in your case. You could have the kids pass the box around as they do their individual books at different levels. lol Or you may want to get 2 sets depending on how many you have using them. Ebay probably has some used. I may get a 2nd set myself once Jesse starts using them and Rachel will still be using them some.

I'm referring to the sample DVD there in case you were wondering. LOL Do you want it to check it out yourself?
My SIL used it some, but I have no idea how she felt about it. I think I remember folks saying it was difficult to use, but that was a really long time ago and they may have improved it... I am a 'retired' homeschool mom, after all (sheesh, and I never thought I would get here, but I did!) All the best to you as you make this decision.
I use MUS with my youngest. We love it for the reason's mentioned above. It's easy to use. My DD watches the DVD's and does the lessons on her own, with very little help from me.
What is it?
We just bought the second year for next year.. Anna has been doing the first one. We love the visual effect using the blocks. anna also loves watching the dvd for each lesson and will actually rush through to get to it. She does get tired of the extra pages of reviews.. but if she knows it, I let her move on. They give enough reviews at the end of each lesson so that she gets the practice needed.
