A tragedy occured last night.
My glasses broke in half.
I am EXTREMELY near-sighted. Absolutely in capable of functioning without my glasses. I took them off my face and was cleaning them and they just snapped. I stared wild-eyed as they aren't actually that old.
And I can't just go get them in a one-hour place, they always have to be ordered as the script is so strong. Soooo today we're gonna SOS Walmart and see if they can at least put the lenses in a different pair of frames while ordering a new pair of glasses. Its a good thing we got our income tax return on Monday.
IN the meantime I'm wearing a OLD pair. And I do mean. Old. And the script is wrong on them. My right eye is totally fuzzy. Its not safe to drive in. Its barely safe to walk in.
You know you take things for granted until their suddenly removed. I LOVE my glasses. You read about kids that hate glasses, and are always loosing them. Not me. The second I put them on when I was in the third grade, and could actually see the world around me I was hooked. HOOOKED. You couldn't pry them off my body. I often fall asleep still wearing them, forgetting that they aren't part of my body.
So...mourns the pair of glasses, and prays desperately that they can at least somehow be temporarily fixed today.

Have fun...and tape them if you can. *g* The 'geek' look you know.
I hear your desperation and despair. The one time that I went hysterical on my family was when the kids sat on my glasses and horribly bent them when I was in the shower (Mother's Day morning of course). Justin didn't know what to do with me. Everyone survived and my glasses got fixed the next day but I was a wreck until then.
i'm finding that as i get older, i need my glasses more and more - at first, it was just to read - but lately i need them just to see - ah, the joys of getting older - a while back, youngest-9 popped out one of the lenses in my glasses - she didn't mean to, it was an accident - but i couldn't see well at all - i tried to put the lens back but it wouldn't stay - i had to wear safety glasses from work (ugly, ugly glasses) until i could run to walmart the next day - hope you get some new frames soon!
