Anybody know how hard it is to take pictures in a down pour????? *snicker*  Anyhow.  There's the trailer in about 6 inches of water.  The water in that picture joined hands with the closer puddle before it began to recede.  We had our neighbor pull the trailer out of there, as the man who owned it was several hours away.

If you enlarge this second picture you can see the 3 kinds of river coming up towards the house.  The pictures don't do it justice.  There was a 7 foot wide, 3 inch deep river on all sides of the house, and it rising rapidly.  The little brown spot under the window would be Cricket the pony, desperately trying to find a dry place to stand.

The picture by the van, that looks in this picture like a big puddle.  But in actuality its the river.  A very small part of it.  It got bigger.  In front of the red van if the pictures weren't so dark is another piece of river.  And over to the right where the picture isn't...is more river.   We live in a elbow of the river, and it was coming at us from 3 sides.  Lovely huh?

The thing is the rain is still coming down hard.  Our only salvation was the tide going out, and the river blowing back out into the ocean.  The tide will come again.

    back river

That's behind our house.  That's all normally field.  And once again the pictures are crappy.  If you enlarge them you can see red arrows pointing out pieces of river flowing.  This part wasn't concerning us in regards to the house.  It was just the fact that the field where our animals were was waist deep.....and rising.  We know cause Rob was in it leading the cow out.

Okies.  Zeria has some bizarre skin infection rising in her arm.  Its hot, and yicky.  I guess I'm going to attempt to drive to the ER about 35 minutes away and get it taken care of.  Its hot to the touch, and the red keeps going up her arm.  My nurse husband has officially declared it an emergency.

The expression it never rains but it pours seems appropriate here.

  • The river has been landlocked due to low flow.

It burst this morning shortly after the  blog, and the river went down quite a bit.

Its no longer on our driveway.

Its still up by our garage, and surrounding the Swiss Family Robinson Tree.

The tide is going out at 1:45.  If we make it that long we should be fine until tomorrow morning.  The prospects are looking good.

We have all of our livestock up to safety now.  Rob had to go wading in waist deep water to convince the cow that his way was better.  The other two were smart enough to move when the water came in.

    STUPID COW!!!!!

The next high tide is at 5:15 in the morning.

Rob and I have NO desire to stay up all night worrying.  We have a motel room reserved for us.  We will go stay there about dark time.    We would have stayed at my moms, but both exits out of here are closed.  One due to mudslide, and the other due to the Pysht river being over the road.  The other exit...well it would take us about 10 hours around the Peninsula to get to my moms.  *snicker*  Would be faster to land at Dee's.  But we don't want to scare her too much.  I'd like her to still be our friend.      *sniggers*

Anyhow thats the details for now.

Its rather fascinating to stare at the river right outside my window...knowing its supposed to NOT be in my sight.

  • Well um

Unless a miracle happens and the rain stops

    We're evacuating.

The river is up to the sides of our garage.

Its very flat between here and there.  Our house is up off the ground, so more then likely the house will be okay.

But we are taking NO chances.

Rob is loading the kids clothes, I have most of my photo albums bundled in one place, and they will be loaded next.

I'm really really hoping this is muchado about nothing, but if its not, I'd rather be safe.

    I'll update when I get a chance.

  • Good soggy morning

The rain, rain, rain came down, down, down in rushing roaring rivlets.

This isn't subtle rain.  This is rain that rains sideways, and instantly drowns you when one goes outside.  And its been doing this since Thursday.  Oh man is it ridiculous.

I guess we're paying for our nice Indian summer now.

I had a bit of a evil snicker this morning.  Rob told Zeria off about something.  And she protested, and he barked back.  And she finally said.  "I didn't do what you said, why can't you just listen."

I think I've said that to him.

    About 5,000 times.

    Its apparently contagious.

Poor, poor Rob.  HE's gonna get it from all his females sooner or later.   I suppose I should find a good place for him to hide huh?  Or sit over here in the corner laughing myself sick.   I'll take the latter.

He's a very very good husband, but I'll freely admit there are moments when I want to flush his ears out, so he can actually HEAR.  *snicker*

And that's as close as I shall get to husband bashing.  I've been working a long time to curtail it.

I think that if you start bashing your husband for little and big things, they just get bigger and bigger.  Whereas if you continually and constantly point out the awesome and excellent things he does, even if it takes awhile at first to find them things will be much better.

When I first started on this philosophy it would take me upwards of an hour to find ONE positive thing.  Now its the opposite, it usually takes me a long time to find one thing that truely annoys me.  And ya know...that is a very good thing.

Its STILL raining.  And not lightly.  Its getting old.

  • Sniggers at Faith a lot.

The wings were rather the point.

I spent a great amount of time these days writing fantasy about pixies.  So, these are umm inspiration from my own house.  I was quite suprised however to discover that Samuel found it cool.

    And was even excited when he saw this;

    sampixie
I call it prepare for take-off.  *snicker* And it somehow suits Samuel's personality.  I have no idea what I'm doing with these, but there fun to do on a rainy rainy weekend.   I think I have the first story of my ark built as well.

I spent last night making candy garland.   Amazingly my fingers aren't hurting this morning.  I'm using wire, and stringing it through peppermint candies, butterscotch candy, and jolly rogers.  It isn't lollipops, but its looking quite pretty.  I have three strings done, and will do at least three more.

I'll probably do them tonight when we watch our last two episodes of Roswell.   We have sure enjoyed having the DVD's to watch with no commercials, and something to do on the weekends.

As a result with Rob's blessing I purchased the first two seasons of Slider to watch.  We will enjoy them I'm sure.  Slider dwindled off into weirdness eventually, but the first two seasons were a lot of fun, so we'll stick to those.  I love ebay--I got both sets of DVD's there for quite reasonable.

Okay so the question is.  If I printed a few of these  up as cards, do you think I could sell them at a bizarre?   I'm tempted as there's one coming up soon, but I'm also scared to try.  HONEST opinions are welcome.

And the deluge has continued.  The river is in full flood.  The beaver dam I'm sure is long gone poor guys.  It was built for a summer creek, not our winter terror of a river.  I need to go get pictures.  But I also need hip waders, and a strong rain coat.  LOL

Other then that a quiet day.

  • This weeks artrage topic is autumn.   I haven't played with psp in quite awhile, so was inspired, and had to share.

I thought it turned out well for all of 30 minutes experimenting.

  • Don't mind me I'll just be over here building an Ark.

    The diluge has begun.

  • Awana tree

Our Awana club does a community out reach.  EAch year they do a Christmas tree festival.

Between fifteen-twenty of us decorate Christmas trees.  They usually have some kind of theme.  In the past I've done children sleeping, umm Crystal night, and international dolls.   This year I'm doing the whole tree in bright colorful lollipops.

We do a silent auction for the trees, and then they are delivered in a truck by men from the church.

We've been doing this for almost fifteen years.  Its a lot of fun, and is a great way to start the Christmas season.

During the festival we also have singing, cookies, a live nativity scene, and several special speakers.  Its a fantastic amount of work, but its soooooooooo much fun.
