  • Good morning

    There is an end in sight in the painting.

    Its just not today.

    Today I have to do school, and then take Jer to the doctors to get his stitches out.  Its a one and a half hour run one way.  *sigh*  I will then stop at a freecycle lady's house and pick up some canning jars.  And then I'll figure out where to store them.    I'm really hoping to do blackberry jam at the very least this summer.  The irony is I almost put up a request for some, and then it came winging through.

    The bigger irony is...the lady who put them up goes to my old church and I've known her for about fifteen years.  *snicker*  I don't need directions to her house.  *giggles*

    So one day shot to all get out before I even start.

    All of the kiddos in their clothes grandma bought them.

    She and they had so much fun.

    I was a bumb yesterday and just recovered.   I also ended up in a two hour aim conversation in the evening that required my whole concentration.  It was a necessary conversation, and kept me from doing other things that possibly should have been done.  But priorities ya know.

    Its gorgeous today, and I'm hoping to do some more painting.

  • Hmmm

    Jeremiah is running around wearing ONE of Zeria's Sunday sandals.  He looks silly!

    Good morning,

    It was a fantastically long, rushed good weekend.

    But I want a weekend to recover from it.

    We had a family reunion this weekend.  A BIG one.

    In 1832 or some such number my Great-great-great Grandfather immigrated from Germany.  He met and married his wife and they had 9 children.  His wife died and he was left a widower.  He then met a lady with 5 children and married her.   They preceded to have 5 more children.  I think.  Its all kinda confusing.  Anyhow I am descended from the last five children.  There are two ladies in the extended family who have done bucko amounts of genealogy research.  And they managed to trace the three brothers of those five children.  And their descendants.

    That was the reunion--the descendants of the brothers.   Albert, Bill and Alfred.  (Yup we're German *snicker*)

    People came from Missouri, Colorado, etc.  When I went I wasn't anticipating much.  When I was younger this side of the family was umm...scarey.  9 German brothers (my dad's uncles)  Who liked to out swear, out drink, and out party everybody.   Kids were expected to come, but kids were expected to stay out of the way.

    My dad loved it, my mom hated it.  Us kiddos tolerated it.

    With that in mind I planned on going Friday night like a good daughter to make my dad happy and then grocery shopping Saturday and heading home.  My mom had invited us to spend the night in their trailer so we didn't have to make the long treck back and forth.  Unexpectedly however my three girl cousins one of whom I hadn't seen since about second grade, the other I hadn't seen since the 8th grade were there.   They live in Chicago, and the older of the two had lived with her dad.

    The oldest came over and introduced herself and we instantly connected.  We chatted the rest of the evening like we'd always known each other.  It was interesting seeing life from her perspective.  She is my dad's oldest sisters daughter.  Her sister eventually came and joined us and we chatted until rudely interupted.

    The rude interuption was me looking over to see that Jeremiah had climbed up on a plastic lawn chair.  The mommy voice said.  Jer's gonna fall if he stays on this.

    He did.

    7 stitches later, and 2 stereostrips. he's just fine.  We were in the ER from 8:30 until 1:30 in the morning.  Going to the ER on a Friday night is for the BIRDS.  He's gonna have a dandy scar on his chin.

    While in the waiting room he had recovered.  We had put a band-aid over the "owie", but we knew he was still gonna need stitches.  He ran around the ER like a mad-man and was quite happy.  We kept wondering if we should just go, but the nurse assured us that yes he needed it fixed.  So we stayed, and stayed, and stayed.  I discussed with Rob I'd been thoroughly enjoying chatting with Cheryl and Cindy and asked if we could stay for the second day.  He agreed we could and we rearranged plans accordingly.

    We came home later Saturday afternoon, collapsed from our 1:30 in the morning stay and then had to get up for church the next day.  After church I had to go back into town for grocery shopping and to enter some pictures and paintings in the Fair.  Zeria and I entered photos, the kiddos all entered a painting.

    Yesterday afternoon Rob spent the time removing our front deck roof.  Its all gone.   This is in preperation for starting over from the ground up.  Oh he also built the steps on the back deck which we had to have before he could start tearing down the front.  The new stairs are wonderful.

    The kids had a blast playing with their second/third/ or whatever cousins, and came back exhausted.  They also had fun because Grandma was in a spoiling mood and took the oldest five to Walmart and bought them each a new outfit.  From HEAD to TOE.  New shoes, pants, shirts, etc.   I have a picture, but I'll have to find my camera first.   Then they came home dressed up, and grandma put wild music on and they did a fashion show.  *giggles*

    It was a fabulous weekend, and now as I said...I need to recover.  *snort*

  • Whatsoever things are true;

    The truth.  I can't fix the world.  I'm not in control.  I'm only responsible for my children, and myself.  And even then I can only guide, and discipline my children ultimately the choices are up to them.

    Whatsoever things are noble/honest;

    In all honesty I'm overwhelmed.   I need to focus on one step at a time, not worry about my kids as teenagers.

    Whatsoever things are pure;

    Pure is my childrens smiles, the soft fur of a kitten.  The hug from my husband.

    Whatsoever things are just;

    God is just, and in the end it will all make sense.

    Whatsoever things are lovely;

    The sunset, the green trees, the babbling of the river, the waves crashing, the seal on the rocks.

    Whatsoever things are of good report;

    Samuel reading well yesterday.   Zeria's hugs.  Jer's talking and joking.  Rainee's smile, Kaylin's laughter, Jamari's determination to try.  Rob's hard work he does for us.

    If there be any virtue;

    This word means moral excellence.  This is Kaylin reporting the truth.  My friends for standing up for those around them.

    If there be any praise

    The praise is the simple things.  Noticing what is around me and thanking God.   Thankful for the quiet times, the noisy times, and the trying times.

  • This weeks blog topic is People with Feelings;

    My mom discussing our building project.  The intensity on her face is very much a part of who she is.  Its why I worked so hard to catch it.  Its a picture I want when she's gone.

  • Well that was exciting.

    Jer was tucked safely in his crib for a nap, so I decided to tackle some more paint thanks to the sun coming out.

    I put the ladder up on the middle of the window.  (The metal part.)  I tested the ladder a couple times it seemed firm.

    I took about three steps up.  The ladder tipped off the metal into the window.  The window broke and landed on Zeria who was inside the house.  And I rather obviously fell off the ladder.

    Wow we did in some guardian angels.

    I have two dandy bruises on my shins.   Paint all over the grass.  And I'm fine.

    Zeria has a bruise on her ankle.

    That's it.   Definitely a miracle.

    Its a good thing we have a window contractor coming out to replaces those in the next couple weeks.  Now what to do in the meantime.

  • xanga Bible study

    "Be angry and sin not."

    I struggle with this.  Because in my mind all anger is sin.  Its not, the Bible clearly states it.

    So tell me how does one get angry without sin?

  • I've got muscles.

    I've got neck muscles.

    I've got shoulder muscles.

    I've got arm muscles.

    And their ALL yelling at me.

    STOP PAINTING.

    It looks like rain today, so they may win.

  • And the front of the house is done.  I will more then likely have to do touch-up here and there but I really like it.  And yup I did that way high top too.

    Now do you see the gable.  The boards that are going horizontal.  I'm very tempted to paint them the dark blue or a third color of some kind just to give it pizazz.  What do you think?

    This is the worst side of the house thanks to the lilacs I was painting around, and the extra window trim.  The side that faces the high way should be a fly-by.   I hope.  LOL  At least I don't have to get up to the top of the 12 foot ladder.   And the board in the very middle that I painted blue.  I was tired when I did that Monday night it probably shoulda been left blue.  but its too late now.  *snicker*  I finished it today on the ladder.  Its about 15 feet off the ground at the center of the eves.   I wanted pixie wings I swear!

    Oh and yes our picket fence is missing pickets.  We've gone twice to pick them up and they didn't have them.  They were rotten and the kids beat on them and wa la all gone.  *snort*

    I'm really, really hoping to get the time to paint those white as well this year, but we shall see.

  • Good morning

    The sun is shining.  *yeah*  Rob had mentioned something about the forecast calling for 5 days of overcast I'm glad he was wrong.  LOL

    We survived Rob's double, actually it went fairly well all things considered.   And he doesn't appear to be dragging too hard.  I hope since its sunny to get some more painting done, but we shall see.

    I'm too tired to be worried this morning.  This is a good thing.  LOL

    Other then that life goes on.
