  • And the front of the house is done.  I will more then likely have to do touch-up here and there but I really like it.  And yup I did that way high top too.

Now do you see the gable.  The boards that are going horizontal.  I’m very tempted to paint them the dark blue or a third color of some kind just to give it pizazz.  What do you think?

This is the worst side of the house thanks to the lilacs I was painting around, and the extra window trim.  The side that faces the high way should be a fly-by.   I hope.  LOL  At least I don’t have to get up to the top of the 12 foot ladder.   And the board in the very middle that I painted blue.  I was tired when I did that Monday night it probably shoulda been left blue.  but its too late now.  *snicker*  I finished it today on the ladder.  Its about 15 feet off the ground at the center of the eves.   I wanted pixie wings I swear!

Oh and yes our picket fence is missing pickets.  We’ve gone twice to pick them up and they didn’t have them.  They were rotten and the kids beat on them and wa la all gone.  *snort*

I’m really, really hoping to get the time to paint those white as well this year, but we shall see.

  • Whoo! That color is a very nice offset to the rest of the house. A third shade would add depth and color. When we painted our house in Vegas we used three colors, one for the main body of the house and two others to give depth to the trim.

  • If you are going for the victorian idea a third color would be great…and those little pieces under the windows and the horizontal blue should also be the third color.  Take a look at some of the victorian homes online that have been painted correctly and see what mischief you can get into.  And, erm, I have this kitcehn that is peach that needs to be yellow or white…ahem.  *runs and away*

  • paint looks nice – could you copy one of the good pickets onto a plain piece of wood? we were always tearing up the fence when we were little – climbing over it or trying to go thru it – we tore several pairs of good pants on those pickets!

  • Wow…you did a great job….
I am terrified of painting, don’t know why but I am…silly, I know!
    Wishing you a blessed weekend!

  • How big is your house? Is it 3 bedrooms? It looks about the same size as mine.

As for the extra color paint, I’ll put my 2 cents in. I think it would be “too much”. It might look great when it’s done, but most times I tend to err on the “less is more” side when it comes to paint and such. Not when it comes to collecting horses, though. LOL

  • would a white look right up on the gable? if not try doing the same dark blue. down south we had our gables vynaled and the color we choose was an almond color but it matched the house part and we just trimmed in a dark brown.
