Month: August 2006

  • Cool I have a new refridgerator and a stove.  It's not quite set up yet, the appliance guy is in there doing it now.  *cheers*  They were supposed to be here two weeks ago, but at least there here before the 'ils.

Rob had to slice a wee bit of cupboard off in order to get the fridge in.  I was snickering cause he did the last of the slicing with a chain saw.  My dad has been a BAAAAAD influence on him.   My dad's theory in life is if you can't do it with a chain saw or axe it can't be done.  This would be why my mom does the building at our house.

I made another 3 quarts of jam last night which means I have umm 12 in the fridge?  Well on the counter at the moment snicker due to me having to empty the fridge.

I'm way relaxed now about the 'ils coming.  What happens happens.  I won't paint anymore.  PERIOD.  I will wander around picking up little clutter piles and that's about it.

Oh yes, and putting EVERYTHING back into the fridge & stove.  *snort*   Rob was muttering as he'd JUST gotten done cleaning the counters.  Which was nice of him as now I have a place to put the food that was in the fridge.  *snicker*

I had a break through in the wall of depression last night and things suddenly appear much more doable.   I was praying while picking blackberrys, and did some asking for help to forgive some small things from the past, and suddenly the fog lifted and I could funtion again.  Life is good.

    Edit;

Darn it all.  He pulled the stove out of the box and its damaged.  *sigh*  So he's taking it back and he'll deliver a new one next week.  Darn Darn Darn.

  • Two more panels and Rob has the roof up.  *cheers*

And I finished the floor in the boys room it just has to dry.  They may be sleeping in the living room today.  LOL

    And I.

    I need a nap.

  • Good morning

Rob is busy dunging out the boys bedroom.

I will be painting their bedroom floor.  Its been the subfloor for awhile and its just EWW.  I'm hoping it might help them have a bit more pride in their living space too.

    One can dream right?

The major news is Rob fixed the water.  *cheers*  I found half the problem last night, and he found the other half.  I'm beyond ecstatic.  *beams*

We both have this list of 500 bazillion things we'd like finished before the 'ils come.  We get silly that way.  We chatted about over over-expectations last night, but does that stop us.  NOPE.

    Silly us.

  • And if we were ever offered the opportunity to get on city water.

we'd take it in a heartbeat.

Our well has stopped working.  *sigh*  It was working at 5:15, but not anymore.  Its typically a two week waiting period to get someone out.

    Beats head soundly on desk.

    I hate carrying water.

And my 'ils are coming this weekend.  *sigh*

  • Well that was fun.

I mean I've always enjoyed taking 6 kids into two hardware stores and Walmart all by myself.  It was the highlight of my highschool college fantasy's.  And ever so much fun when you walk into the first store where you bought the product you have to return and they tell you no, actually they got it from the other store, so you have to take it back there.

Yup I love unbuckling, and  buckling a family of 6 in the car.  *nods*

Especially when I was returninging said product due to their idiocy.

I also love going to Walmart with a train of 6 children.  Its even more fun when the two oldest boys have a pushing fight and knock there oldest sister into me.   *true highlight*

Its such a delight to be a mother some days.

  • Good morning

The plan for today is to run to town for Lexan and exchange the wrong stuff we have.  Lexan is the roofing material we're using.  The people who took our order were less then spectacular with what they did.  With any luck Rob will put the roof on tomorrow.

We will do that after we take Rob to work.   I had a list of about ten things I was going to get in town, and of course I can't remember any of them at the moment.

I made three batches of blackberry jam last night which ups it to six batches total.  Its freezer jam, but it still tastes delicious.   I left some out for Rob to enjoy as a late night snack when he got home from work--which he did.

The kids are enjoying the last nice warm days of August, and I'm storing up energy for my 'ils visit this weekend.  I'll need it.

  • I believe that children should be seen and not heard.

I believe that children should appear each morning quietly dressed in Gymboree matching outfits, or some such other name brand.

I believe that their bedrooms should look like something out of a Sears catalogue with beautifully matching pillows, curtains, and plush carpet on the floor.

And I believe someone is gonna pass out laughing if they made it this far.

    One can dream right?

    *snort*

Finally I load the pictures.  This is Sam and Jonathan his cousin at the beach.  Sam was mad at me cause he didn't want to hold still for a picture.  *snicker*

The three of them have actually gotten quite good at painting, if not a little bit messy.  *giggles*  The boys have declared it boring.  This is just fine with me.  Sharing a paint can with 6 paintbrushes was just a bit much.   We will start back up on painting the picket fence tomorrow.

She made the sword herself.  *giggles*

  • Sorry Sarah no indoor skating pictures, it just looks like slimy dirty linoleum.  *snicker*

We have three rafters up on our room.  *cheers*  There was a lot of prep work for the roof, but its going well now.

Its been a long fascinating week with miniature disasters everywhere you turn.  I've failed to blog many of them due to exhaustion.  LOL

The picket fence is completely painted on the outside.  I'm taking a two day break before tackling the inside.  Its looking good.

My sister came out with my mom yesterday with her kids.  It was fun visiting with her even if she wasn't feeling very good.  She's up cause her husband has a month off from school so is earning some extra pennys at his old job.   They also had to sign papers as there house sold.   This means the financial pressure is greatly relieved for them until school is over.

We hung around here until after lunch, and then went and played at the beach for awhile.   The kids had great fun playing with their cousins and wave chasing.  The water in the Pacific is of course always freezing, but that didn't slow them down.

Samuel has taken to drawing pictures of elaborate forts he wants his daddy to build.  I think I might buy him some draft paper as he actually has a pretty good eye for it.   Rob is hoping to build one of them with the junk wood.  *grin*

My mom can teach him--Samuel about the drafting as she's very gifted with it--albeit self-taught.  Its rather amazing actually a few years back she drafted my brothers house, and had the engineer stamp it.   The engineer offered her a job, and said she'd just saved my brother $5,000.

Some days its hard to be the daughter of super woman.  LOL  But thats okay at least she keeps life intresting.  She came out and snoopervised Rob and helped him figure out some engineering issues on the roof.   All of this while still going through radiation treatments.  Gotta love her.

In the middle of all of that Cricket (the pony) was running around and somehow managed to kick Samuels new kitten.  It of course didn't survive.  Samuel was devastated.  I couldn't blame him.  He's lost two cats in a month.  So he got to pick out one of the kittys that isn't spoken for, and will be keeping it.

Oh and about two of the disasters.

ALWAYS remember to check your feet before going out of the house.   I went to church last Sunday with one pink birkenstock, and one blue one.  Kaylin spotted it as we headed in.  "Mom your feet are mismatched."

    and

NEVER put a hot popcorn pan that just came off the stove on a linoleum floor.  It will melt your linoleum.
