  • Jer along with his rocks has one other favorite toy.  Its actually a convenient toy cause as long as he’s playing with it we know where he’s at.  This is pop-pop.   I think I had one growing up LOL.  He LOVES pop-pop.  And will get quite peeved if someone interupts his play with it.

This was the view of the lake while we were waiting for the stars.  The Canadian Geese came and visited us morning and night.  Do you see how close we were to the lake.  I love it when you can find camping like that.  Now if it had just been a teensy bit warmer

This is Rainbug waiting for the stars.   This is Tuesday night, so we were getting beyond filthy.   Although miraculously that was the first time she’d warn her warm clothes, as she’d just stayed in warm pj’s at night and in the mornings.

We had a extra air mattress that we used to play on in the lake.  The kids were getting so cold waiting for the stars that I pulled out my sleeping bag and they laid down on it and cuddled for awhile.  Until the inevitable spat about whose stealing the covers, and whose bumping who.

And our resident pyro Samuel who was guarding the fire quite zealously.  We kept babying the firewood thats why the fire is so pathetic  LOL

Wednesday morning Zeria’s friend Macy was headed back to Yakima with her family, so I snagged a picture of her.  Wednesday we just hung around the camp being lazy.  We did go for a bit of a drive, but it was rather a bomb, as we found nothing “cool”, just lots of dirt roads.  Pretty views, but nothing camera worthy.   We had intended to sleep in this campsite Wednesday night but towards evening we decided it was cutting it too close to get to Seattle for Rainee’s doctors appointments.

So at 4 pm we decided we’d eat dinner and get closer to Seattle.  I cooked while Rob took the tent down.  We just through stuff in the van half-hazardly and headed over the pass.   We found a rather unexciting campsite that we through our tent up and slept in.  The next morning we were up at 7 throwing the tent back into the van and the kiddos in their pj’s.  We began the scurried drive to Seattle via 410.  We stopped in Enumclaw for breakfast via Safeway.  (apple fritters MMM)   And then hit MAJOR BAD BAD TRAFFIC.  We ended up doing about 15 miles an hour from shortly outside of Enumclaw all the way to Childrens.  We left with 3 hours time, and ended up there ten minutes before the appointment.  Its such a good thing we didn’t try to get their from Rimrock.

The first appointment was Cardiology.  Dr. W. wanted us to stop there to assure that Rainee’s sleep crap wasn’t messing her heart up anymore then it is.  Its not.  The PDA repair is doing its job, and her heart is A-OK.  She held perfectly still for the EKG, and they didn’t insist on a echo which made me very happy.   Dr. Stamm is a wonderful kids doctor.  He actually sponsers a camp for his heart-patients every summer.  When Rainee was done her appointment she got to pick out a teddy bear.  It was the softest critter.  It never left her side for the next two days.  LOL

We did our pulmonoligst appointment–and they agreed Rainee needs to do another sleep study.  So we’re in the que for that.  The pulmonoligist was double scheduled thanks to a new computer, and the wait was never-ending.  Our kids were angels, and we finally got out of their at 1:30.  The appointment was scheduled for 11.

We zipped by McD’s and picked up a late lunch, and headed to the ferry.   It was nice to actually be able to wiggle a bit.  It was delightfully warm, which made us willing to brave the outside of the ferry and enjoy the view.  Its usually too NASTY cold to be out there.  This is Zeria waiting for the ferry to leave the dock.

Jer was appropriately impressed by the ferry, and kept saying “Woooooow.”   He is extremely aware of nature for being such a little tyke.

After the ferry ride we headed to Sequim which is on our way home and stopped at my parents for the night.  My dad and Zeria share a birthday.  So my mom had invited us over to celebrate a couple days late, and then just set our tent there.  It worked quite nicely.  The two older girls slept with J’dai.  And the rest of us slept in the tent.  My brother and his wife and girls also came over.  We had a nice visit, and a lovely breakfast the next morning.  My brother & his wife headed back to there house, so we had mom & dad to ourselves in the morning.

Early in the morning we enjoyed breakfast and then headed back home.  *yeah*  My own bed.  I love my bed.  LOL

And that’s the last ferry picture–notice Rainee and the teddy bear.  She LOVES that teddy.   I love what the wind is doing to her hair too.  *snicker*

Now that we’re home its still delightfully warm.  And the river has warmed up.   The kids and I swam, and swam in it yesterday.  We explored all the way down to the bridge and found the best swimming hole.  Its a bit farther away from the house, but I can actually swim a decent lap in it.  Its also quite nice and warm.  We will be going back after church.

Rob has another week of vacation scheduled, and we will just be bumbing around home.  This is a good thing as we lost the brakes on our van on the way home.  Its in the shop–to the tune of $682.  UGH.    The man said he would take payments, its a good thing, as we spent more then we should on vacation thanks to it being so stinkin’ cold.   Money bites.

Its a lovely thing that its at least warm, and we have a place to swim.  Our other vehicle is currently needing a radiator replacement, and doesn’t have Tabs.  We knew the radiator needed fixed so we didn’t buy the tabs.  *growl*  We will be sneaking it to church today (about 3 miles) and back, but we don’t want to risk being any more illegal then that.

  • i’m glad rainee’s heart is doing well. praise God!

looks like a wonderful time for you all.

  • great pics – the kids look like they were having lots of fun – we used to camp when we were growing up – lots of work for my mom and dad – but lots of play for me and my sisters!

  • How did you get all the way home without brakes?  The roads aren’t exactly straight and level!  I’m glad you made it safe.

Isn’t it great having water to swim in handy?!  When we were kids we would often go to the brook and find a spot deep enough to swim in.  It was so much fun.  To find a swimming hole big enough for an adult to swim in too is an added bonus.

Glad to hear Rainee’s appointments went well.  That must have been nerve wracking being in slow traffic and wondering if you were going to get there in time.

The pictures are great.  It looks like you had a fun time.

  • The pictures are gorgeous! I hope that sleep study goes well. I’ll be praying for Rainee.

  • LOL, Jesse tried to help Chris mow this morning with his popper toy.   He does the same thing when I vaccuum.

  • Glad you’re home! Love that first picture of Rainy and her bear. She is so beautiful! Darn on the van though. Ugh. It sounds like you had a terrific vacation. Wonderful.
