  • Woooo  LONG day yesterday.

We left the house at 8:15 and got home at 4 pm.   The kids were extremely well behaved all things considered.  Although both Samuel and Jamari got to do a time-out in the van with dad in different stores.

It is actually more relaxing if we do that rather then let it spiral out of control, and was our game-plan from before we left the house.

So, lots of grocerys in the house, some Walmart stuffs, and a few Goodwill treasures.  The last time I was at my moms she walked me through how to rewire lamps.  I found a pretty one at Goodwill yesterday without a cord and had already picked up a couple kits at Walmart.  So, I now have a hanging light in the living room.  It was extremely easy, and I was very proud of myself when I was done.  The deal is there's NO overhead lighting in the living room.  And no wiring for it.  So, we needed to convert hanging lamps to a cord.  And I did--two of them actually.  One is just a lampshade that I made into a light.  I found a beautiful shade at Walmart on Clearance.

So, now our living room is lit--well it will be when I find a second hook for hanging the second fixture.  LOL

And I feel rather empowered having learned a new skill.  *snicker*

It was actually a blast, and I hope to do two wall sconces for our bedrooms to hang on the walls, after I get two more kits.  *grin*

Other then that it was just a long day, and I'm feeling the after effects of it this morning.  LOL.

  • yeah! i'm glad the day went well. yeah for your new project. i bet it looks great.

  • Is your new skills something that can be done and portable? LOL  We have no lights in the living room either and I don't have space for more than 1 end table with a small lamp.  I finally just bought a cheapo floor lamp from walmart and that with the lamp is perfect.  We do have a light over the "wet bar"  (that we converted into homeschool storage. lol) that we keep on also for extra light, but it's not helpful for reading and stuff on the other side of the room where the chairs are.

RYC: I'm guessing the pastor hadn't told her about our discussion 2 weeks ago which surprised Chris, but I did tell him it didn't surprise me much.  After all he is the pastor, he most likely doesn't tell his wife everything he talks to people about.  It wasn't any kind of counseling where privacy would be an issue, but still, I doubt he has time to let in her on every little thing.  Although since it does involved her class, I thought maybe he'd mention it.   I'm guessing today she brought it up with him since I told her it was his idea! lol  So maybe next week we won't get the same reaction (I hope) when we try again.  And I did tell Caleb to let me know how he does...if it's over his head or he gets bored.  Caleb knows it's a temporary thing to see how it goes until we can get a 3rd class going, well 4th once I get the 2s and 3s/4s up and running again.

  • Glad you had a good shopping trip.
