Month: May 2005

  • Woo Spotty came back!  This has made my kids day.   Spotty for those not in the know is a beautiful yellow bird---aka a Black headed Grosbeck that visited our bird feeder all last summer.   The kids have anxiously been awaiting for him to reappear.   He's been at the feeder about 4x this morning.   So we're excited.  *grin*

On other notes...Jeremiah continues to insist on being held.  Its okay...Rob's home today.  *snicker*  We'll share the responsibility.   He's quite ameneable as long as he's in someones arms.

Now three or four babies ago...whichever baby Kaylin was  I woulda said I was spoiling her by doing that.   But fortunately for all the babies since then I was challenged into a different train of thought.

The gist of it was.  God created babies unable to walk.   He *wants* them to depend on us.   Thus not spoiling when we actually oblige that need.     Some entiphany huh?      He'll learn his independence soon enough.

Well I have to run into town for a bit.  And will be back in about 2 hours.  *waves*

No Awana tonight!  And a new Lost.  Wooooo

  • God must think I need to sit.

Because Jeremiah has insisted on being held non-stop since Saturday.

    My arms are tired.

He will grow and I will miss this.

I got digi pictures of him as a newborn...and wow he's changed.   I'd forgotten already.  I can do this.

  • Good morning

Its rather misty today,  but tis okay.

I spent a rather inordinate amount of time yesterday on the phone.   Details for baccalaureate are starting to come together.  I designed the invitation, and now just need to get them printed.      I have the blessing of the school principal, the music, the cake, and half of the food prepared, someone to be in charge of the punch and serve it.   I just need set-up, take-down, and to figure out when I'm going to decorate.   This involves e-mail with the janitor.  I can do this.

In other goofiness I managed to get to our churches WMF meeting.  I've been wanting to start going since January, but its one of those second Monday of the month kinda things thats hard to remember.  So, I finally made it.  It was a lot of fun.  And the babysitters were wonderful, and had crafts etc planned for my munchies.   I ahem volunteered for something while i was there too.  *snicker*

This is a easy one.  I'm just rejuvenating our churches missionary bulletin board.   It rather disappeared, and should NOT have.  I feel very strongly about missions.  So, today my neighbor will be map shopping, and then dropping everything at my house to get set up.   It should take about an hour or so to get set up.    And then will just take mere seconds to update pictures from time to time.  The amusing part of this were the dear sweet ladies who didn't wish to spend the extra money on a new map.   The old map...was 40 years old.     I didn't argue with them...was just going to buy it with my own money LOL.  Half the countrys on the world map have changed in the last 40 years.  *giggles*   But in there world...that just isn't that important.     I'm not having to get the map though, because the elder who originally asked to get it fixed had already said they'd do it.  I told them I could, and his wife reassured me it was fine.  Hey I'm nota gonna argue.  *giggles*

Anyhow...it should be a fun little project that won't take too long, and makes me feel involved in the church without being overwhelmed by it.

So between the two projects I did a lot of phoning.   This is ironic considering my goal to learn to use the telephone without fear.  *snicker*

  • Good morning

I'm....struggling this morning.   I'm also a tinge grumpy.  Big suprise its morning.

DH was the funny this morning.  He is GRUMPY.   And wandering around in a daze.  I suggested he go back to bed he doesn't have to leave for a long time to work.  "Well I guess I can get a few minutes."    So he heads off.  He gets up 15 minutes later and is rushing around.     I find him in the bathroom already showered.   This is weird he's an hour plus ahead of schedule.

I'm still rather dazed myself so didn't think too much about it.

A few minutes later he comes in and says "I'm gonna buy lunch at the store, I need to leave."  I just stared at him.  Its an hour before he needs to leave.   "Why are you leaving now to go to the store?   You don't have to leave for an hour."

He stares at me.  "What time do I usually leave for work?"   "Well it used to be 10:30, but you've been leaving at 10:15".   He stares some more.    "Its 9:00 dear"    "Oh,"  He just stands there looking stupid.

He won't be leaving for awhile after all.  *snicker*

Yup, its rather that kinda morning.  He's been btw leaving at 10:30 for work for ummm 5 years.  Have no idea where his head is today.  *Snicker*

  • Good morning

    Happy Mothers Day.

I'm fighting a nasty sinus headache.  Its making me slightly grumpy.  Or that may be because Rainee screamed the whole time I was showering...or JEremiah has screamed most of the rest of the morning.

And I still haven't had breakfast...nevermind that whole allusive breakfast in bed.     Apparently that never occured to any members of my family.  *snort*

On that slight vent.  Its a GOOD day.  ROFL.  I had fun doing my girls hair.  They each have ribbons in it.  Zeria looked in the mirror and beamed when she saw them.  I love making them happy with such simple things.

Last night Samuel heard me saying the babysitter was coming.  He LOVES Faith.   So, he went outside and stood on the front step and hollered in a 4'o'clock alls well style voice.  "Faiths coming at 4 o'clock,  Faiths coming at 4 o'clock.  Faith's coming at 4 o'clock."  He did this in the stereo almost monotone voice about 6 or 8x.   It was fairly hysterical.

Samuel has declared "I can't wait to be a dad, cause then I can wear a watch."  Yeah that's a good reason to look forward to.  *snicker*

I still have pictures...but I have to shrink 'em all and I'm sooooooooooo out of time.

We're all headed to my parents house all 31 of us or something this afternoon.   The men are cooking...aka buying stuff from deli's.  Rob actually is a good cook, but due to the elders meeting and camping he went and bought pies from Safeway last night.  *snicker*

And I have an adventure planned for next Saturday.  *grin*  Jeremiah and I are going to be going for a bit of a drive to celebrate someone's birthday.    I'm rather looking forward to this.   Next month when her daughter visits I hope to put in an appearance then too.    I'm gonna establish frequent flyer miles to her house.  *giggles*

I learned from my mother to be strong.   I learned from my mother to be loving.  I learned from my mother that stereotypes of women are wrong.   I learned from my mother that commitment to marriage is a GOOD thing.  I learned from my mother that a house should be a home.  I learned from my mother to enjoy beauty.  I learned to treasure the sound of the ocean, and the sound of quiet.  I learned to cherish laughter, and remember my worth in Christ.    I am greatful for the many lessons...and the life I choose to attempt to copy.   She was a true gift from the Lord.

  • Good morning

    *yaaaaaaaaawns*

It was BEAUTIFUL yesterday.   So we were spontaneous.  Majorly spontaneous.  *snicker*

First we decided to go for a hike.   We headed down to my favorite close beach.   And hiked in the woods to a beautiful look-out.  We did almost 2 miles.  And Rainee..hiked the WHOLE thing.   We are still astounded she could do it.  We just let her set the pace, and what a little trooper.      She may be healthier then we know LOL...or have incredible stamina.

Anyhow after the hike it was just so gorgeous at the park/beach.   And people were camping, and it looked like so much fun.  And we couldn't find a babysitter for date night...sooooo we went camping.

Went home Literally threw the tent, sleeping bags, and brats for dinner, cereal for breaky into the van and went back to the campground.   We crazy.   But it was extremely relaxing and a lot of fun.    Of course the air mattress went flat half way through the night...this is normal.     And Jeremiah nursed every 15 minutes all night long...this is also normal.

But definitely fun.   We rather rushed home this morning as DH has a elders meeting, but tis ok its not gorgeous this morning.  *giggles*

Yes, I have pictures...but their still in the van.  So later, eventually.

Oh and super congratulations to my friend Sarah and the birth of her baby girl!!

  • Good morning.

My iexplore stopped working again today.  And I had to call customer service again.   The good news is their extremely helpful and I got it working.   I think my computer is just dying.  I would like it to make it to December...but its not looking hopeful.   Dreams of a new Dell.

Today customer service's "help" had an extremely hard to understand accent.   If your gonna do telephones for a busines....accents are NOT helpful.  I had to ask her to repeat everything twice.  *growls*

Headed to Bible study this afternoon.  Finally have all healthy peoples to actually manage this.

Dinner last night was DIVINE.  If you want a new recipe I highly recommend the one below this blog.  It was DELICIOUS.    MMMMM

And insanity has truely happened on the boards.   Just completely wacky.

  • I think we're gonna try this marinade...but I'm not going to grill it too much work for this family.

ASIAN GRILLED PORK TENDERLOIN WITH PINEAPPLE

    Serves 6 to 8.

2 pork tenderloins (12-16 oz. each)

    Marinade
    1 can (6-oz.) pineapple juice (3/4 cup)
    3 tablespoons soy sauce
    2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
    2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt (kosher)
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 cups peeled and cubed fresh pineapple (1-inch pieces)
6 to 8 wooden or metal skewers

    Cooking Directions
Place pork tenderloins in resealable plastic bag; set aside. In small bowl, combine marinade ingredients; pour over pork. Seal bag; refrigerate for at least 1 hour to marinate, or up to 24 hours to enhance flavor.

Preheat grill to medium-hot. When ready to grill, remove pork from marinade and place on grill. Cook, covered, for about 10 minutes per side or until the internal temperature of pork is 160 degrees F. Meanwhile, place the pineapple chunks on the skewer; place on grill during the last 6 minutes of grilling time, turning after
3 minutes. To serve, slice pork into 1/2-inch slices (medallions) and serve with grilled pineapple.

    Serving Suggestions
A bright flavorful accent to grilled pork tenderloin. Chef Su-Mei Yu livens up an Asian-inspired marinated pork tenderloin with grilled pineapple.

  • HMMMMM I have internet access again.  I'm sorry to those I was attempting to chat with.   I kept blinking in and out.

After hours of problem solving on my end I finally called earthlink's customer service.  HIGHLY impressed with them.   And after ten minutes I'm back online.  WOOOOO!

Probably shoulda just called last night. LOL

Jeremiah likes hair.  I should know.  He pulled mine for a large portion of the night last night.   If I'd been more awake I would have gotten up and put him in his bassinet....I wasn't.

Tonight is our Awana awards night.   Rob will take a hour of vacation to go.   I should remember to bring my camera huh?

Zeria *just* finished her book yesterday afternoon.  I actually ran her up the road to the Awana Commanders house to say the last verses.    Sam has not finished his.   Its okay.  I'm actually contemplating holding him back a year in Sparks.....still undecided.   I held Zeria back a year in Cubbies, because emotionally she just wasn't ready for Sparks.  As a result Sam and Zeria are in the same grade in Awana.   This is the joy of homeschooling.  LOl   And the joy of having two children only ten months apart in age.    I'm so undecided as to what to do.  I *know* school wise Sam is SO not ready for the second grade.   And he loves sparks he so won't care if I hold him back.

Decisions, decisions.  Of course to make it more confusing...Zeria is in the second grade in SS, and the first grade in Awana.      Poor child has an identity crisis.

And now I have blog-blank.  Must be time to hit submit on my wanderings.   Waves to all
