Month: August 2004

  • *yawwwwwwwwns*

I got my second-favorite doctor for Rainee.  *major grin*  This is the doctor that was there when Rainee was airlifted out.   She is superb.   Even a extended nurser.  Nursed her girls until they were 18 months old.  Which is pretty impressive considering she's a full-time pediatrician.

And Rainee as is typical can't do anything normal.  *snicker*  She has foot and mouth disease.   AND a staph infection on her bumb.   So antibiotics for ten days for the diaper rash.   For the blisters on her hands and feet...time.

Went and bought a $40 remant of linoleum for Rainee's bedroom.   Gonna lay it down after I sweep in there.  And her room will actually look cute.     I can't do carpet in there due to all of her asthma stuff.  Its just asking for trouble.

And drum roll please.  I have not rescued Rainee with atrovent in almost 40 hours.  Because she has not needed it.  Thats right she hasn't wheezed in 48 hours.    I can't remember that ever occuring.  I'm thinking the prevacid is working.  I soooooooooooooooooooooo hope so.

What a novelty it would be to relax vigilence a little bit.

  • Good morning

    Its a new day right?

My husband after being off work all month is doing MAJOR over-time this week.

And then back to part-time next week.

I love no schedule.    (sarcasm oozes)

Anyhow yesterday he came home at 11 pm and left at 4 am to get back to work.  I begged him just to stay out there and take a motel for 4 hours.  He didn't.

Tonight he will get home at 11 pm...and yup get up at 4 am to get back to work.    Wednesday, he will get home at 4 pm.  *cheers*

My kids will not have seen him in 72 hours by that time.  So if the blogs become plentiful.  Or one big whine you'll appreciate why.

This morning we are leaving in a few minutes to go get Rainee's bum checked out.  She has a rash.  Typically I just eidel it and korona it and it goes away.  Been outa eidel for awhile and the 'script ran out.  She doesn't respond to anything else.  *growls*   Of course she doesn't she's Rainee why do anything the easy way?  Not even diaper rash.  *snicker*

Then we will go walk over to the hospital and get Kaylin's blood work done.  The results will be back tonight.  (according to my wonderful doctor.)   Tell me how many doctors do you know who call you to tell you that they faxed the paper work over.  Nurses yes, that's "there job"  but my doctor calls me.  I love him.     Just so caring.

I probably won't be seeing him this morning.  I figured anybody could deal with rash.  So I'll play russian roulette at the doctors office, and pray desperately I didn't get doctor wackyman.  My new name for the doctor who said Rainee was "fine"  and she was readmitted 3 hours later.  Strange definition of fine.

Rainee is sitting between my legs "helping"  she would really, really like to push those fascinating buttons.

On that note...have a good day.  I'm sure I'll be back online when I get done my doctors rounds.

  • Woooooooooooooooo!

$45 wellllllllllllllll spent!  My teenage brother came up and mowed lawn and painted Rainee's bedroom.  Its just been the drywall that Rob put up a coons-age ago.    I can't stand long enough to paint, and Rob HATES painting.  *snicker*

So now she has a lovely clean room.  And I have a lovely weed-free yard again.  *cheers*

Of course I had to have one little fly in the ointment.  IT took me 25 minutes of waiting at Walmart to pick up the second gallon of paint.  I mis-guessed and had to go get a wee bit more.  So went to town and waited.

It took 8 minutes for the paint guy to even show to  his counter.  And there was another woman in front of me, plus the guy he was already helping.  She wanted 5 gallons of oil based specially mixed (as in computer matched)  paint.  This took ten? fifteen? minutes.  The next guy only wanted 10 gallons of specially mixed paint.  This takes another fifteen.   And I'm entertaining five kids the whole time.

So five minutes before that guy is done another lady wanders in.   The Walmart guy finishes and turns to her.  "What can I do for you?"  he inquires.

Wild pregnant lady freaks.  "Umm, excuse me, I've been waiting for 25 minutes and I only need one gallon of paint.  She just got here."  I stated very calmly.

The Walmart guy wigs out.  "I'm just trying to help everybody so you can all get out of here."  he says in a snarly voice.

I took several deep breathes and didn't say a word.  Just stared at him and handed him my paint card.  "I need this,"   HE did it very very quickly, and never even showed me the color to make sure it matched. Fortunately when it got home it did...or then I woulda gotten snarly.

Cause whatever woulda come outa my mouth after that woulda been evil incarnate.

Woulda loved to been a big old black draggie for five minutes.   Pictures myself breathing fire down the guys back.

Oh and the lady who'd waited five minutes?????  She got mad and left.

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

    to her

I just feel so so sorry for you.

You want my five kids?  You can go first then.

    *snicker*

    I feel better now.

  • Good morning

Sunny for the first time in a week and a half.  *cheers*

My sister and bil and munchies came over after church yesterday and we had a impromptu hot dog/brat feed.   Then Rob and Tony set up the trampoline.  It actually set up quite easily this time.  The second-hand one we set up was a MAJOR pain in the butt.

After it was set up we sat around eating desert and letting everybody jump.  It was a success.

It actually worked so well I'm gonna have to try it again sometime.  (minus the making the guests work thing *snicker*)

My kids are orrrrrrrrrrrrnrey this morning.  Can I sell em?  I know I can't.  But early naps are sounding better and better......

Other then that life proceeds fairly normally.  I have to call and get paperwork done so Kaylin get get her lab work done (for her thyroid.)  And do school.   Its so gorgeous outside school all sounds boring.  I think we'll move it outside.

  • Good morning...

    Okay morning.

Had a lovely night last night.  Got to go out with my hubby on a date.    It was verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice to get out again.

Had a reasonably priced dinner that tasted scrumption.  Went to Walmart and bought the kiddos something for "Gotcha Day."   (More on that in a minute)  And then went for a drive.

To make somebody VERY jealous.  *snicker*   We sat at East Beach on Lake Crescent and just enjoyed the scenery for a nice while.  And watched the sunset.  Did it work Jen?

We did the numbers in our check book 4x.  And then what is going to be coming in the next 2 low pay checks and decided weeeeeeeeeee we're gonna make it and have a little bit left over.  *grin*

So with that discovery we of course had to immediately spend some.  Oh the lovely American way.  Actually we bought a new trampoline for our kiddos.  They use it a LOOOOT!  And we like to honor "Gotcha Day!"  so this seemed to be the way.  Our last trampoline was second hand.  And we had a dog decide to chew the kids feet while they were jumpin.  As a result it got a fairly substantial hole.  (dog gone now...too late for trampoline.)

What's gotcha day?  Its the day we got my two oldest munchkins.  Labour Day Weekend six years ago.  Wow has it really been that long ago????

How are we gonna set up the trampoline with one one legged person, and a person who can't bend over or stand?  Well we're gonna do like all good kids do when they get in over their head.  Holler MOOOOOM!

Actually she already said she'd help.  (nice mom!)

Zeria has started her nightly visits again.  I hadn't missed them.  I started putting things together and I think she just gets bored at 2 am.   When we were swimming every day she slept harder and didn't have time to get bored.     Boredom's gonna stop.

I really don't enjoy being woke up at 2:30 to be informed that "Mom, I'm thirsty."  She walked past 2 sinks to tell me this.   "So, go get a drink of water and get back in bed."  I say in my sleep induced haze.  She does, and I lay there awake.

So, we're gonna revist the whole if your having a nightmare, or really scared, or are sick.  You can come visit mommy.  If you had a accident (wet the bed)  or need a drink, you are big enough to deal with it.  Mommy needs sleep.  (mean?  well you get woke up every night then. )

Trying to upload the last picture again.....see if xanga cooperates.   If it doesn't maybe I need to go delete some or sumfin.

*growls its still not showing.  How very strange.  It acts like it loads and nothing appears.    Its a really cute picture...tis the only reason I keep trying.

Goes to peer at xanga and see whats.  up.  Maybe I'll edit it and add it if it cooperates later.  buh bye

Stranger and stranger.  Its showing up on my picture files.  But won't go into my blog.

Okies here's the link.  Why I can't get it IN my blog is a whole nother puzzling issue.  Enjoy.  if you can get the link to work

We brought home 5 gallons of fresh apple cider.   Left 5 with my mom, and my sister took 5 or so with her.   It was a profitable day.  Even if my mom was ready to kill a couple of her teenagers.  My two-year old was working harder then them.  *snicker*

And all of that for less then two hours worth of work.

All of the kids picked apples.  Down to the two year olds.  (Mine and my sisters.)  Although my sisters 4 year old tended to help mommy instead.  By bringing the juice container back and forth between his mom and I.

The apples are gravensteins.  They are small, but very sweet and juicy.

And here's the cider press.  Rob put the apples in the chopper.  Thats where the arrow is.  They grounded up and were caught in the wooden bucket.  Karla then slid the bucket over and used the black handle to squeeze the apples.  The juice is caught in the bucket that is circled.  Jonathan then brought me the bucket and I strained the juice (gets rid of the big chunks, and the TWO yellow jackets that thought they should have some juice.)   And then put it in freezer containers.

Rainee likes the juice...she has the runs to prove it.  Its very rich and has to be drank in small quantities.   *snicker*

I had one more picture.  But xanga will NOT let me put it up.  *Shrugs*  Tomorrow then so pbbt on it.

  • Good morning,

I'm practicing true parenting patience.  Honest.   If it kills me.  Rainee has climbed up (with a stool) onto my back between my back and the computer chair.  And is "brushin' mommee's hai".   Ya know I've always liked my hair being brushed.....

Thunk, bang, "Dis hurt?"  (Umm Yes!!!!)  Never mind the whole walking on my sore back.

This is a regular ritual.  She LOVES to do it.  If only she could master the whole gentle thing.....

Rob picked up a extra 8 hour shift.  *cheers*  So he's gone all day.  Feels rather weird to have him gone this early in the morning.  This means he'll have a whole 28 hours in this week.

Next week though he has some routine training classes which he has to take, and I think he'll manage a whole 32 hours.   I'm so looking forward to 40 hour weeks again.  And the money that comes with it....

Its raining for the fourth? fifth? day in a row.  I know we need it....but I've got CABIN FEVER!!!!  And no money to take my kids to the indoor playland at McD's.   Man do I wish I could....

Hmm how about grandma's instead.  *snicker*  Actually we were just there Sunday, so probably can't pull that off either.  Guess I'll endure.

The kids *have* found a way to go play outside....

    sort of.

They've found the crawl-space to under the house.  And have been spending hours under there.  I just keep praying they don't trash the plumbing.   They sure think its fun.  *shudders*  I hate tight dark spaces.  Of course if one of 'em gets stuck under there...their staying there 'cause I can't get them, and Rob can't.   I guess we had to pay a neighbour kid to go get 'em.

My dad informs me that that was the way they spent all winter playing.  (EWWWW!)

And thats about all that I can think of thats even remotely important.  *snicker*

  • Good morning,

Did  "official" school with the kiddos today.   Still need to read with Zeria, but will do that later.  She had a melt-down so we both need a break.  Me so I don't melt her down a bit more.  She so she can get herself under control.

She bounced up to the computer with her school book and plopped it on top of the keyboard.  Erasing a half hours worth of work on me.   We won't discuss how many times we've communicated DON'T touch the computer.

Of course I freaked.  LOL  But a mild-freak all things considered.  And fifteen minutes later she's still sniffling.  *sigh*  She's such a bucket of emotions.

I think I'm headed to Costco in a few minutes.  And Rob's gonna keep the munchies.  I'm needing a bit of a break, and they don't want to be cooped in the car the 50 minute drive one way.

Yesterday we were told it would be the end of September before Rob could go back to work full time.

We had a momentary panic.  And then picked up her boots, brushed ourselves off and started moving again.   Rob's boss thinks it will be sooner.  So does Rob.

I've really enjoyed posting recently.  Its been a nice distraction.

Other then that we continue to move on.

And I'm at 28 weeks in my pregnancy.  The baby is safe.   And we're counting down.

  • Sometimes you spend hours playing with a graphic only to delete it in exasperation.  And sometimes one just *pops*  This one popped.   Of course it helped that I found some awesome new charrie pictures of Catherine.  *grin*

  • Good evening.

Its been a good day.  Although I will freely admit to being glad its over

I have a question please????  When did she stop looking like a baby??? I can't decide if I like this picture or not.  She's just way too grown up.  Which is a miracle that I'm greatful for considering how much work its taken to get her here....

My kids were sent to bed early tonight.  It was just a long day.  And I think they actually fell asleep about 8 pm.  I guess I wore them out.  ROFL

Zeria got a major owie just before bed scratched her inner thigh and stomache.   She just melted down.  And mommy decided that it was just looking to be that kind of night.

All of a sudden my camera is just taking crappy pictures.  I sure wish I knew why....they are just screwing up the lighting over and over.  On overcast days go figure.   So not as many pictures as I was hoping for from the beach.  It was a bright day...and all the pictures are dark and gloomy lookin'.  *growls*

But the above picture turned out good.  This is my friends two boys posing in front of the biggest tree they've ever seen.   Their city boys from Calgary, Alberta...the middle of the prairies.  And when their mom brings them down to her hometown she's never gotten them out into the country.  I did today.  *grin*

Of course if they'd put down the game boy for more then five minutes it might of helped........

So those are my two best pictures.  And other then that we just had fun, enjoying the waves, picking out pretty rocks, and making forts in the driftwood.

Have a great morning all (as most of you will be reading this then.)
