  • Good morning, on the homefront we just keep on keeping on.  Last night Zeria spiked a high fever.  (103.2)  So she slept with us so we could keep an eye on her.  It broke sometime in the middle of the night, and she seems almost better this morning.  A teensy bit whiney, but hey sometimes thats normal (roll eyes)

The kids have been invited to come to the cubbies Christmas party, even though they haven't been going to cubbies.  I haven't decided if I have the energy to drag them out.  I KNOW they'd love it, but I have this stupid stuffy cold that just keeps dragging on.  And just doing normal stuff is making us tired.

Poor Rob who NEVER admits to being tired is actually complaining about it.  We told ourselves this morning (in 30 seconds of quiet)  We would survive the transition, find our new routine, and continue to love each other .  So now we continue to work on that.

    About the ditch digging...........................

As a little girl I grew up in rainy wet soggy Washington.  And one of my favorite things to do was play in the mud puddles.  My next door neighbour (a girl a year older then I)  Would don coats, and rubber boots, and see how many mud puddles we could drain, by connecting one to another.  It was great sport to play mini-engineers.  In our driveway (which we shared)  Their was a small colvert that went under the road.  We would spend literally hours daming up this colvert and making small lakes and then releasing the water & running to the other end to watch it all race out.

As I got older we moved about an hour a way.  And added about 50 inches of rain a year to our list.  And I continued to play in puddles.  (In the midwest kids play in the snow, in the west they play in puddles I guess)  ONLY now I played in puddles by hitting them at high speeds with our 3-wheeler.  We LOVED to go puddle jumping, and to see how far & how high we could get those puddles to splash.  Oh my poor mom & the clothes she washed.

When I went to college, I went to a place in Alberta.  Their was VERY little rain the time of year that I was there.  But we'd have an average of one or two rainstorms a school year.  My best friend who had grown up in Nova Scotia and I LOVED to go out walking in the rain/wind and puddle jump.  We would put our snowboots on, and jump into the puddles just like 3 year olds.  (snicker)

Yesterday we went to the local restaurant for breakfast.  My mom & her youngest girls ended up meeting us there.  It was fairly zooish (is that a word)  And was of course raining outside.  At the very end we all headed out to our vans.  And Samuel found this nice splooshy puddle...and jumped in it...splashing my mom all over the place.  I had this secret desire to join him.    My mom of course laughed, and tickled him, so she wasn't too upset.

Why did I reminisce about this?  Well.......on my Sunday blog about ditch digging...I really do enjoy digging ditches.  I have a life long fascination with running, & muddy water.

I came home from church achey and sore, and feeling a bit sorry for myself (pathetic I know)  And realized my deck was surrounded by water, and something needed to be done to clear out the ditches.  I tucked my kids in bed for their naps.  And got out the shovel to dig.

Do you know its the most fun I've had in months?  I'm serious.  I got my heart beating, and I got to play engineer in the mud once again.  I was drenching wet, and it was all I could do to make myself come in and be a responsible adult again.  LOL

And when the water over ran again after the SS program I was almost cheering   I know goofy huh?  But hey...it sure improved my mood

So today as you go throughout this day, don't forget to do something crazy and fun.  It will lighten your whole life up.
